Not sure if this is bad form or not, but I'd like to post a "me too!".

I'd love to see DD-WRT on this router

I tried contacting him and got no response....
Question: do I need wifi driver source code for porting? Or just binary driver code should be fine? I mean QCA9980 wifi chip.

it takes much more than that, all the compiler stuff has to be set right, toolchains configured for it, partitioning the fw properly in the flash to not overwrite any caldata etc. ath10k is also still in process of gaining support for qca99xx as can be seen http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wireless/index.html

he can take several days to reply sometimes, i had to wait 6 days once & check junk mail, twice his replies randomly got sent to my junk

Seems like still many works need to be done. I just try to modify the ack time on this router, but it is not configurable. Is there a shortcut to do it?

Just picked up one of these for a great price when I saw Kong made some commits on trac.
So far it performs as well as my rt-ac68p, this is the first atheros unit I've had that can match my Broadcom units.

As good as my rt-ac68p and wrt1900ac.
Full bars through out the house just like the 2.4 band and you know how I've said none of the atheros work well for me. Never the same range nor my full download or upload.

+1 for EA8500. Its everything the Asus AC87U should have been.

Any news on a DDWRT for the EA8500 yet? I would love to use this router on my second Sky Fibre Pro (VDSL2) line in UK but router needs to support DHCP Option 60/61 & my only option is to use DDWRT (stock fw doesn't support DHCP option 60/61). I'm more than happy to donate a unit.

Cheers

Kong's firmware at the following link does not work. I flashed it a couple of times factory to dd-wrt but when it rebooted it was the still the same linksys firmware.
