did you do a 30/30/30 before installing? was the router fresh out of the box?

I recently got this router and put build r27858 on it including 30/30/30 resets it all looks to be working except I don't seem to be able to keep an SSH tunnel open either inside or outside the network. I keep getting:

14/10/2015 10:54:00 Network error: Software caused connection abort
14/10/2015 10:54:00 FATAL ERROR: Network error: Software caused connection abort

It is definitely connecting for a short time so the SSH keys are correct.

Any thoughts?
Anyone got the same issue?
Any other build number to try?

I think I have found a reported bug related to this so I guess I either need to wait for a fix or go to an older build if I want to get SSH tunnelling working

Same story for me :( I tried upgrading via the webflash without resetting everything. I had the dd-wrt firmware installed previously and was trying to do an upgrade.

BEEN FLAWLESS ON 5GHZ. best release thus yet! QoS wasn't working until reboot of router though. usually works when you click apply.

Thanks for this suggestion, I flashed this firmware and its made a big improvement to the wifi performance. Seeing similar speeds to the above.

Your router have erased partition data. Using recovery is not possible:

I flashed 10-09-2015-r27944 and now the router is not responsive. All lights slowly go on then off in a cycle. Is that a hard/soft brick?

I tried the tftpd32 methods outlined in this thread but all bin files mentioned yield the same all lights on and off results.

Is there a way for a somewhat newbie to salvage this router?

Does this have to be repeated every couple of posts? Don't flash 27944! Instant brick. 27858 is the last version reported to be working well.

Why do people not do their research first and only come here looking for answers after they;ve run into a wall? On one hand, I applaud all you who want to be pioneers but the only ones who should be first to jump out of the airplane should be the ones prepared with a parachute!

Apologies for the ignorance, but I've loved how the ddwrt worked with my netgear n750. I'm looking to buy the archer c9 but don't see it listed in the database... is there any file I can use or is this just not supported yet?

Edit, I also read through the mandated beginners thread. I apologize for the database reference as I now realize it's not accurate. Either way, since this router seems like such a good bang/buck, is there any definitive status on support for this? I see the two .bin files uploaded in Oct, so I assume I can just use those (do I need to downgrade the stock firmware still?). Considering how difficult it was to track those down (found through another forum post that linked it) I had some hesitation if this really worked.

if you perused this thread there are a couple of golden nuggets of info regarding this router. the first one is that to intially flash from tp-link firmware to DD-WRT, you need to downgrade your tp-link firmware to the oldest version. Only from this version can you install DD-WRT by webflshing from the webgui.

the 2nd is most important and shouldn;t take much effort to find since it;s listed 1 post above yours. Do NOT install 27944 as others have reported that it will brick your router.

the latest version that has worked well on this router is......27858.

Guys, is OpenVPN working on C9? I am trying to set up it with Mullvad, following instructions on the website but looks like the service is not running.

Probably better to expand that to don't install any build past 27858 until further notice. It looks like the same issue is in r28015 as r27944 from other forum posts:

http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/4882

Just putting it on this thread as advice for C9 users before someone bricks it without serial or similar to revert.
