I would like to build a headless wardriving box, but cannot figure out a good way to get gps on the thing. One of the how-to sites linked to an ebay seller that no longer sells the unit. Does something like this exist? Or at least a cheap serial puck gps that I can use a max232 with?

I'm actually just working on this now. I had a couple compact flash GPSs from old orgranizers. Since they are serial I should be able to get it to work. I've seen scripts around for this. The nice thing about the compact flash gps(es) is that they are low voltage. IE the ones I have run at 3.3v and 1.8 v.
If anyone is interested for the voltage conversion for example 12 v to 5 v. There are stand alone IC chips that can do this. they are usually 3 pins
In ref(or feedback) and out
they can even run by themselves without any capacitors but a cap would help keep the output stable as the input voltage can rise or fall slightly.
If anyone knows how to mount a serial connection using a LINKSYS WRT54GL with V24 DD-WRT could you please send me a message!
