Hello there.

Warning, huge post.

I'm quite new to DD-WRT and I'm trying to have a 3G/4G connection on a Netgear WNR3500L v2 via USB modem.

My router is flashed with latest Kong build :

Firmware Version : DD-WRT v3.0-r27520M (07/17/15) kong
Kernel Version : Linux 3.10.84 #67 Fri Jul 17 08:06:51 CEST 2015 mips

Found here : http://myopenrouter.com/download/dd-wrt-kong-mod-netgear-wnr3500lv2-chk-file

I have several 3G/LTE USB modem (all Huawei)
I took a look at this page to be sure wich is officialy supported by DD-WRT :
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/3G_/_3.5G

The others :
E3131s-1 - not listed
E3521s-2 - wip
E182E - OK
E398 (maybe E398u-15) - OK
E392 - OK
E3276 - OK
E1750 - OK

Only the E182E is working.

I read this post http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=960931 and tried to connect by setting manually the credentials without success.

Here are some informations with E392 connected :

APN changed form "free" to "websfr" whereas it's still free in nvram

Code:

root@DD-WRT:~# nvram get wan_apn

Is there something I miss or something I do wrong?

If I find Huawei driver for linux, will I be able to make at least some of them working?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Edit :

With a E398 connected, modem fails to register but it is connected to 4G/LTE network :

Code:

I've also flashed the WNR3500Lv2 to the kong build and am trying to accomplish the same thing, however, I am using a X500U data stick (which works on four other routers that I own).

I cannot offer a solution to this specific router as I am still working out it, but I can offer some advice. I've tried establishing a 3G connection to act as a failover from WAN (which requires a bit of simple scripting). I have successfully done this on routers with and without space for /jffs/ modification.

I have had success with:
USB Modem: Alcatel X500U +
-WZR-HP-G450H using std firmware from router database
-WZR-600DHP using a MULTI build (yes, not a mega)
-Linksys E1550 using a K3.x mega build

The pattern I have realized is that the most upgraded/recent firmware versions do not always produce the greatest results. Try experimenting with old/new builds and ignore the "must be a mega build and have acm drivers" from the USB Modem as WAN connection post that I'm sure you've already visited.

I will continue working on the WNR3500Lv2 and will update if I get any new results.

*note: all working routers simply require "Enable USB Core Services" and "Mobile Broadband (Dial: *99***1#)" as modifications - otherwise, all settings are vanilla.

attached are the builds that work with the respective routers:

Thanks for your answer.

I am not able to flash from kong build to the MEGA build you linked (via TFTP using JTAG or Web GUI), so my problem is still there.
