Now, question, isn't the K3.X targeted toward newer routers that often come with more than 8MB flash? For example there is a specific build for RT-N66U and that device comes with 32MB flash.
I know this is an older thread, but I wanted to post my findings, specifically with the ASUS RT-N66U.
I had been having trouble finding a build (K26 or K3X) that supported TLS but ended up flashing broadcom_K3X/dd-wrt.v24-28015_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N66U.trx which does support TLS. This is a pretty recent build, so I'll probably revert to something a bit earlier (r26138 is suggested on the wiki page http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Asus_RT-N66U#K3.X_Builds at the time of this writing).
For whatever reason, broadcom_K3X 'big' has more features than 'mega' in the current builds. As a comparison, the download size is 21.3MB vs 7.6MB.
