I have a E1200 300 MBPS router but sadly it is giving a download speed of only 10 to 20 MBPS.
Why is this happening?
Direct connection to my PC gives full 100 MBPS. WiFi gives only 10 to 20 MBPS. Even if I am the only person connected to it.
It is running the BIG v24 firmware available on the front page.
QoS is disabled.
Why is this happening? What settings am I missing?
However you might find that your router is too weak to route quickly using ddwrt. _________________ SIG:

Yeah, read up everything and understood what to flash and what to not.
The wired connections are fine for some reason. Only the wireless ones are having issues.
There are same reports for stock firmware on Linksys' forums. Wireless has slow speeds.
So what do I do?
Do I like get a new router for my 100 MBPS connection?
Any recommendations? I don't have a super high budget.
Best I ever got on the E1200v2 with dd-wrt is (wireless using droid app WiFi sweetspots) NG-Mixed wide HT40 is 45 mbps and it won't hold at that.
In normal gateway mode (wired) you can get about 61.
Tomato firmware wireless will top at 61 and hold steady between 47 - 58 mbps.
I see you posted in the E1200v2 thread --- up a page or so I made a post about what I thought of the E1200v2 ... with links to shibby tomato firmware.
So No Sir, you will never get close to 100 mbps with that router --
'bout all I know

Well, that's disappointing. Why do they call it a 300 MBPS router then?
I guess I will stick to DD-WRT since I am used to it now.

So what router do I buy for my 100 MBPS plan?
The speed depends mostly on the router's CPU frequency. For example, my (Ralink-based) DIR-615 D2, even if it's N300-capable (max theoretical speed), it can practically sustain around 75 Mb/s WAN-to-WiFi speeds; its CPU runs at 384 MHz.
So E1200v2, with a slower 300 MHz CPU, is obviously proportionally slower... being capable of ~55-60 Mb/s WAN-to-WiFi speeds in practice.
Extrapolating from the above, you'll need a router with at least a 500 MHz CPU, to be capable of 100 Mb/s WAN-to-WiFi speeds. _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.

Ahhh, I see. Thank you for the information. I will do some research before buying.
Just one more thing before we let the E1200v2 off the hook. You should set WPA2 Personal + AES on the Wireless Security page.
TKIP instead of AES causes WiFi to slow down, see here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=974969#974969
Thanks, but that didn't change much.
I probably need to get a new router.
