ok I am in need of a little help I am adding a repeater to my network using a 54g it works fine using repeater bridge but will not connect to the host router in repeater mode. The reason for repeater mode is I want to use the routers dhcp server to isolate it from the main network.

Thanks,
Yonu

Down at #15 in 'Murrkf's Peacock Thread' is a good short version of Repeater & RB setup.

Builds I know work well in Repeater and Repeater Bridge mode on WRT54G are--
Besides the 14929 build recommended in the wiki these three are very good :
25974 (01/10/15)
26839 (05/06/15)
26866 (05/09/15)

So, in the Broadcom section Announcments, there are some key requirements for posting questions. Notably in this case, to post the specific build (file) you are using, and device version, etc, etc. Otherwise nearly nobody will reply. Have you gone thru the wiki on the Repeater mode?
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater
And note it says to look at another wiki first.

Edit: mrjcd beat me Razz Listen to what he says.

ok so that i conform to the rules it is a 54gv6 build 13064 micro.

on another note I can't find any build dated after 09.

I have had this same router running as a repeater a few years ago so I am actually alittle confused what it don't do it now.

I will attempt my best Murrkf impression... Razz

See Note 3 (Recommended Builds) of the Peacock thread, the first sentence in fact. Smile You do not want 13064; this is where builds are now: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/
Start with the recommended 14929. 14929 micro is in here:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2010/08-12-10-r14929/ I've been using the latest builds, but don't use Repeater either. Try 14929 first to see if you can get it working.

Well I tried the suggested build and the tutorial I am able to connect but not with security enabled is there anyway to debug the connection? I am running WPA person tkip+as on the main router is this possibly part of the problem?

Thanks,

Best to use WPA2 Personal AES

Whatever to are trying to bridge to with the WRT54G should be in NG-mixed mode ...... if that don't work you may have to put it in G-Only.

Certainly put the WRT54G in G-Only
