Router: Bufalo WZR-HP-G300NH
running on (SVN revision 23720)

Hello,
Just recently I decided to mount a 500GB usb HDD on my router and share it using samba to be able to access my movies and music through VPN.

The HDD is formated as ext3 and it mounts perfectly. I can access the share from my windows 8 PC.

The problem is anytime I try to transfer a file to the HDD through windows explorer, after 3-4 seconds the share disappears. I'm connected through wifi only (haven't tested with wired connection)

From the router's status page I noticed that during this time the router's used memory will increase so much, and it's then when the share gets lost.

What could be the problem?

thank you. Crying or Very sad

I found the problem, it was my usb hub. A Belking F4U017. After plugging the hdd directly into the router, everything started working.

I can now transfer files to my mounted hdd, even though it's not very fast, and I am connected through the wired LAN.

I guess I need to try with a different hdd? what speed do you guys usually get when transferring files to your hdd?
