Guys, I'm having some trouble here. I have installed DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/19/14) std - build 23598M. It was done via the firmware restoration tool. Everything seems to work for the most part, except my wireless dies every couple days, requiring a restart.
I want to test out the stock firmware, but having trouble reverting back. I've tried using the firmware restoration tool (tried the firmware with both .trx and .bin extensions). Also tried via the DD-WRT GUI. Both methods, no luck. Each time, it seems to give me a clean DD-WRT install (the password reset page).
I have exactly the same problem. I also have the ASUS RT-AC56U router. Was is possible to go back to stock? I've flashed the router with success, but I don't like it at all, so I want to restore the ASUS firmware. I've followed the instructions from several posts, but it is not working. I've tried the same things like tman785. I've also tried with different firmware versions but with no success
I've also tried to reset to factory defaults, resetting the default settings and tried to install the ASUS firmware. In some cases i get a window with the title 'ASUSTek - CFE miniWeb Server'. I've tried to upload the ASUS firmware file and I've also tried to restore default NVRAM values, but the DD-WRT firmware is not overwritten.
I just upgraded my new ac65u router to DDWRT and my speed dropped tremendously, like 5 times slower. Thus, I tried to revert back to Asus stock firmware but to no avail.
Can anyone advise on rectification? Now I am very disappointed with my itchy fingers.
