This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build. (eg: 23598_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless.
If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build.

Netgear WNDR4000.
dd-wrt.v24-23598_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega.bin

upgraded from:
dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega.bin

No reset. No issues at this time.

(Edit for additional info:)
Leaving wireless at 71mW setting resulted in an "Auto" entry for the power, and some strange behavior. I changed the wireless power to a fixed power setting (125mW for Wl0, and 375mW for Wl1) and everything is stable now.

Special thanks for the K3.x builds below 8MB size and all the improvements to the builds.

Belkin F7D8302v1

dd-wrt.v24-23598_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_f7d8302.bin

No issue with flashing or operation. Still problematic client bridge behaviour after power cycle - need to restart wl0 or apply a settings change to get it to come up (also noticed w/versions 23503, 22118, 21061). Otherwise it seems fine.

These builds were tested on the linksys E3000

K2.6 23598 mini-e3000 and nv60
k3.x mega-e3000

K2.6
wireless is broken. but everything else works fine. i noticed that in usb mounting, it will show "mounted on mnt/opt/jffs" and then "not mounted". i can still share drives fin though...havent done much testing on that part.

k3.x
i noticed that k3 builds are now 7.5mb. this is great. dunno if my ticket on trac got noticed by brainslayer or kong told him or maybe this was by chance.

also, everything works in K3.x. SSH, Telnet, usb mounting, wireless, wan, this build is what i guess i can consider another stable build for the e3000. but as for K2.6 23598, it turns the e3000 into a switch with a usb port and web gui.

i did want to mention that when i was setting up wireless security in k3.x 23598, the web page went white after i selected "wpa2personal" in the 2.4ghz box. i didnt click accept or anything, it just went white right after i clicked "wpa2personal". now i dont know if this is google chrome or the build but when i did the same thing in the 5ghz box, it didnt do the same thing as it did in 2.4ghz.

-COMMENTS-
i think brainslayer should use the same usb mounting gui that is used in kongs builds. i saw it being used in build 22118, but now i dont see it anymore in the newer builds.

i would like to say that i am glad brainslayers k2.6 builds arent bricking my linksys e3000 anymore and that k3.x builds now fit on it it again.

i dont know what happened on your side BS, but im looking forward to the next Brainslayer Build.

Is there any chance we'll see K3.x builds for the WNDR4000 and other 8MB routers that aren't "mega"?

Maybe roll K3.x std builds for 32k and 64k NVRAM, so those of us who use JFFS2 can try them?

All K3.X builds will have 64k nvram, routers with less than that will get its nvram converted to 64k.
jffs2 is not needed on your router, you have a usb port and small size usb flash sticks are cheap.
Excessive writing to internal flash is not a smart thing when you can do it to an external device easily replaceable if it should get trashed during write.

I think you are writing too many mails and forget things. You wrote me a PM about it and I told you I removed xfs and btrfs from K3 non AC builds:

http://svn.dd-wrt.com/changeset/23550

Also BS is using the same mounting gui, but only on builds that have enough space for the features that get pulled in when using advanced mount.

Router: Linksys EA6500v2

Flashed fine, wireless is good, general stability is also good, it's been running since I flashed it yesterday without issue.

Except for when I enabled QoS, which resulted in a connection drop shortly after (5-10 minutes after enabling), after which I disabled QoS since I was busy with something else.

Also, the router is listed on the webui as an EA6700, but it is an EA6500 v2

EDIT: I did some more testing with QoS, and sometimes it will completely crash the router, resulting in a reboot. I finally picked up a USB serial adapter and am sorting out which wires do what on an older router, so I might be able to hook it up and see what's going on. Maybe.

EDIT: Checking the 2.4ghz issue on EA6700.

I did a copy of nvram variables on stock firmware before flashing dd-wrt.
There are many nvram variables missing.
Related to 2.4ghz:
0:ag0=0
0:antswctl2g=0
0:macaddr=C8:D7:19...
0:temps_period=5
0:xtalfreq=20000

I tried to nvram set mac address, then nvram commit and reboot.
Again this value is missing.

DO NOT 30-30-30 or erase nvram newer routers! It can brick them.

E4200: Build 26587

K3.x
Router: e4200
Build: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/19/14) mega - build 23598

5.0 GHz Wireless Network Mode does not work in Repeater Bridge mode when set to N-Only (5 GHz). Setting the Wireless Network Mode to NA-mixed will connect to a host 5.0 GHz N-Only (5 GHz).

Please pm me your nvram variables from stock and from dd-wrt, you can if you want exclude any which are not of the 0: or 1: type.

Was this the first flash of dd-wrt onto the router?

ok. Will PM this evening.

This was not first flash.

First flash was with Brainslayer build from December, where nvram vars went missing.

Then I flashed a modified stock firmware.
I reinputed missing vars using a) default functions in stock firmware b) user andlommy nvram file from EA thread. Commited, checked if vars are still there, then reboot.

Now I have flashed the current build.

Linksys E3200 first flash from stock firmware.

Followed wiki instructions for E3200 (30-30-30 reset twice).
Flashed v24-23598-NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e3200.bin with reset to defaults.
Flashed (Special version) v24-21605_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-nv60k.bin with reset to defaults.
Flashed v24-23598_NEWD_K3.x_mega-e3200.bin with reset to defaults.

Appears to working well at this point, 2.4 radio only with a virtual Wlan with AP Isolation, Vlan3 with port 4 only, ports 1,2 and 3 in Vlan1. Used IP tables to prevent Wlan and Vlan3 from seeing each other or the router.

One thing I did notice when setting up my Vlan3. I was using nvram set commands via telnet to set vlan3port and port3vlans, etc. and screwed something up. I did a ' reset to defaults ' via GUI but some of the nvram data for vlanports and portxvlans, etc. did not clear out as expected (don't remember what it was). Erase nvram did not fix it either as I recall. I had to reflash the build to get things going and start over to get things right. Many thanks to whomever wrote the Switched Port wiki for all the information on how to do vlans and iptables. Really good stuff.

Using the GUI, I can't get freedns.afraid.org to work for DDNS service. Errors out saying hostname, password not valid. Both are correct since I can login to the account at freedns.afraid.org and see my domain names. I do have the same issue with another E3200 running an older build of dd-wrt so it may be something I am doing wrong. I am not using ' Custom ' as my DDNS choice on this build but did try it previously for freedns.afraid.org and did copy and paste the string of characters required by freedns per the DDNS wiki. That failed with the same error of username, hostname wrong.

No longer have WAN DHCP issues with Comcast that I had on previous builds that I have flashed to another E3200 router.

I do not see 5.0 radio but am not sure if that is supported. I did see 5.0 radio on the factory firmware.

Overall very pleased with this build.

N12.B1

I was able to flash dd-wrt.v24-23598_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega_RT-N12B1.trx

After a few minutes I tried dd-wrt.v24-23598_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn_small.bin.

But now I am unable to try K3.x without getting a reboot loop.
