Hi,
It is possible to set up such configuration?
Assuming I have capable router with 2 USB ports.
There is no wired WAN only two 4G (or 4G + 3G) connections.
The 4G line is as primary, 3G (from different provider) as backup - will be it working stable?
I may conciser also load-balancing of two 4G lines (from different providers).
Is it possible to set up it?
It looks possible, but has anybody successfully configured 3G backup? I've googling around for two days and I haven't hit yet a thread detailing how it's done, I've even looked in other open source routing forums with no luck either.
I would be grateful if the OP could update this thread if he finds the right tutorial.
I have been also googling last days and only I discovered that official Asus firmware support this... (sorry for OT). But also no clear description if 4G + 3/4G backup is running well.
It seems only one option for me is to buy any dual USB router and test it.
But I I would like to avoid wasting money if it does not work
Merlin (developer of the respected firmware MerlinWRT), confirms that Asus is struggling to provide real 3G failover. AAMOF, yesterday Merlin said that recently Asus seems to have put out a new release for the AC68U... it is not yet clear whether or not this new firmware solves that bug/shortcoming.
I'm also in the market for a new router and I'm yet wary about jumping the gut on Asus routers unless Asus addresses this.
