Man...Linksys support chat is screwed up....I wanted to find out if they had a beta version of firmware to load on WRT600n routers. I have a version 1.1 manufactured 02-2008....it came with 1.01.35 build 5 and I flashed (through GUI) with the latest on the linksys web site version 1.01.36 build 3. The Linksys support person told me that I acutally downgraded my firmware and that version 1.01.35 build 5 was the latest release....and that I could have corrupted my router by loading version 1.01.36 build 3.

Anyone know if there is any truth to this....

IF you go by linksys own website then 1.01.36 build 3 is for 1.0 versions of the wrt600n only since there is no 1.1 selection so they are probably right.

So it sounds like the current Linksys firmware version for WRT600N Version 1.0 is 1.01.36 build 3 and the current Linksys firmware for version 1.1 routers is 1.01.35 build 5? According to Linksys you can corrupt your version 1.1 router if you load version 1.01.36 build 3 on it? I know that some posted here that they got Version 1.1 routers shipped with 1.01.36 build 3.

My router is working fine, but I wanted to see if they had firmware to fix the storage link issue that I have. Anytime I copy a file to a USB drive connected to the WRT600N it changes the dated to current date and time which can be a problem if you want to perserve the creation date of the file. Other than that the router works okay (well as good as a linksys router can with Linksys firmware). Does anyone else encounter this with the storage link feature and dates changing when copied to a USB storage device connected to he USB port on the WRT600N?

My router is the 1.1 and mine came with build 3 not 5 so that theory goes out the window.

Your WRT600N is version 1.0 and it is manufactured in 04/2008?

No, what the Linksys rep told you is not true. The v1.01.36 build 3 firmware that Linksys provides for download has a special trailer on the end of it designed specifically to make it flashable on the latest v1.1 units.

I suspect that he wasn't looking at the FCC ID. That is the only place where it says "V11." The sticker on the bottom leads you to believe that it is a v1. (and as far as Linksys is concerned, this is true)

Anyone have experience the creation date changing on the files copied to a USB storage device connected to the 600N? The storage function works okay, but any files copied to an attached storage device has the creation dates changed to current time and date which shouldn't happen.

I am in the exact boat. V1.1 running v24mega_trailed thanks to you jmh9072.

My router was manufactured 3/08 and came with 1.01.36 Build 3 i believe.

I reverted back to the linksys firmware in an effort to find the value for switch_type= ...but was unable to login via the door script and telnet.

2.4ghz is confirmed functional. Power LED is blinking like crazy, and LAN is not functional.

Lan resumed functionality upon reflashing the firmware to 1.01.36b3. ALSO, using 1.01.33(extraced) the lan was not functional. Thus the implication that there was a hardware change is very probable.

If this broadcom switch does allow jumboframes (if ddwrt supports it), I am even more motivated about this project. Is there a way to confirm the switch model, specific to my router?

Is it possible to make a donation to accelerate development of DD-WRT for the WRT600Nv1.1?

Wordy, but this is my first post. Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help out.

I think the BCM5395 does support jumbo frames.

Ok, so I am very new to all of this but i have compared the nvram settings from three routers and put them into a spreadsheet for comparison:
#1 ZeroPain's WRT600Nv11 w/WAN bridged to the switch and wireless talking to LAN
#2 My own WRT600Nv11 w/wireless and LAN separated (have not tested WAN yet but I have read this is working)
#3 My own WRT54GSv2.1 for comparison on settings, as it is up and running fine.

these three are in separate columns, and I have cleaned it up a bit, removing all settings that were identical for and not seeming to be related. It seems that this is some sort of a VLAN thing, and as you will see, ZeroPain has made some modifications to what VLANs are assigned to the LAN, among other things. Basically, if it is listed, it is because it :
A: didnt show up on one of the other rouers
B: seems to be an important setting for getting this working
C: existed on both routers but the settings were different.

I am so new to this that I am not even sure how to modify these nvram variables, but hopefully someone can fill me in on it and also make use of this spreadsheet to help us overcome this problem

to set a nvram variable is just

nvram set vlan2ports="0 1 2 3 4 8*"
or
nvram set port0vlans=1

hopfully that gives you the basic idea

Okay, after reading ZeroPain's nvram vars and comapring them to my own I figured out how to use the lan-ports bridged with the wan port as 5 LAN ports. Was not that complicated because only two vars seem to matter.

1) WebIf
--- Go to webif, set connection type to Disabled
--- Assign WAN Port to Switch
save, apply, reboot, dance two complete circles around your device Smile
2) Console
--- nvram set lan_ifnames="vlan0 eth0 eth1 vlan2"
--- nvram set vlan2ports="0 1 2 3 4 8*"
--- nvram commit
--- reboot
3) Be happy to connect W(ithout)WLAN to you router Smile

Now we need to find out how to get the stuff working with seperated lan and wan. But for usage as an AP it is a big effort, thanks ZeroPain!

Using the exploit I grabbed the nvram for entries I thought might help from the actual v11 linksys flash running

br0_ifnames=vlan0 eth1 eth2
vlan2ports=0 8*
vlan0ports=1 2 3 4 8*
lan1_ifname=
lan1_hwnames=
lan_stp=1
lan_dhcp=0
lan_hwaddr=
lan_ifhwname=vlan1
lan1_stp=1
lan_ifnames=vlan0 eth1 eth2
lan_proto=dhcp
lan_ifname=br0
lan1_dhcp=0
wan_ifname=vlan2
landevs=vlan0 wl0 wl1
vlan0hwname=et0
lan_hwnames=
lan1_ifnames=
lan1_hwaddr=
