I am relatively new to any sort of networking. I upgraded my router to dd wrt 23 SP1, and now I want to set up an ftp server. I have tried forwarding and everything, but I am just not getting it.
It would be a huge help if someone more skilled than I just took a minute to give me a rough step by step on what to do. I can google terminology that I don't understand, and I learn fast, so I am not asking for a lot of information. Just a step by step so I can understand what I am doing.
I am using alftp as server and client. I have tried everything I have read or can think of, including passive mode. For the record, I already have a static IP address. I just don't know what else I can do. It doesn't matter that the client side is behind a router, right?
alftp works fine for me. I have the server running, ports 5000-5100 forwarded, and port 82 forwarded to port 21. I have to use port 82 since my ISP blocks server usage by port. I can then connect to my server via web2ftp.com using my DDNS and port 82.
Those settings should work, at least they do for me (v23 SP1 Mini).
I would recommend getting a DDNS account - its free, and really nice to have!
Also, is the ip of 192.168.1.101 in the pool of DHCP addresses? I would recommend moving it to something lower than 192.168.1.100, or something higher than 192.168.1.149.
I changed my machine's IP to 192.168.1.155. It didn't do anything. (I changed all of the forwarding addresses as well.)
I am really at a loss about why this is not working. I have had NAT problems in limewire, emule, and any sort of bittorrent client, as well. Is that possibly related?
Also, I have my server running with anonymous logins allowed if one of you guys would try and connect. I have it set on port 82, once again, and my IP is: 67.140.241.37

Once again, I am new to all of this. But when I go to http://www.eigeneip.de/, that's what it tells me my WAN side (I think I used that term correctly) IP is that one I just gave. Is there any way that that is wrong?

I have no doubt that's your valid IP, but I can't connect to it. _________________ блог путешественника
Okay. So is there anything I am doing wrong here? I haven't adjusted any of the settings from what I posted up there. I am runnign AlFTP on a server with Sever IP of the machine it is running on, which is IP 192.168.1.155. Anonymous connections allowed, on Port 21. There are a max of 2 connections allowed.
I am at a loss here. Is it possible that my ISP can block all FTP?
