Ok ... So I have a WRT54GS Version 7 I attempted to flash with the DD-WRT firmware close to 18 months ago and I apparently Bricked it and after trying to EJtag it with a Buffered Jtag and not getting it to revive I placed it to the wayside thinking that I would tackle it at a later date. Well that later date has arrived as I came across it last night while cleaning up some of my cluttered Junk. What I am wondering is within the past 18mo if any progress has been made with software that would help me to un-brick this? All I get is Solid lights where the Port Light are located. If anyone can shed some light on this or maybe if one of the Gurus would like this Challenge I would be interested to hear from them

If you are having a problem with GS V7, it is not the fault of the jtag software. tjtag 2.1.4 & earlier supported the GS v7
Thanks for replying Barry .... I did some research in this forum and found that I posted back in Sept. 2008 ( Still shaking my Head that I left this dormant for over 2 years ) and using the 2.1.4 Software I got the same result. Here is what I am getting .......

Barryware ....... I have tried for the past 6 days to get this 54GS flash to program with it stopping at 13%. I have Erased the Flash 2 - 5 times each and every time I have tried to flash it with just a CFE. Now it goes real fast in the programming until I hit 4% then it slows to a snails pace. I have tried straight up Parallel to ECP with DMA on and Off but same result. Since this is a *** Found a Intel 28F160C3 1Mx16 BotB (2MB) Flash Chip *** I have even tried tjtagv2 -flash:cfe /fc:48 but get same results. Also have made sure the Processor Entered Debug Mode! I am at a loss here thinking that maybe the Flash is Hosed. Would like your opinion on this ... Thanks

If it stops at the EXACT same spot every time, you have a bad flash chip _________________ [Moderator Deleted]
I'm looking for some guidance. I have several wrt54g2 v1.5 routers that have issues. I know they don't support dd-wrt, but i would like to try to fix them via jtag if possible. I have the header installed and i have the cable, but i cannot get the program to pick up the chip. AR-7240. If someone can point me in the right direction i would be forever greatfull.

Tornado would need one of the devices donated to code TJTAG to it. _________________ Peacock Thread-FAQ -- dd-wrt Wiki
hello tornado.
I am new to this forum and I have a question for you. : D
Could you published the source code of tjtag 301 and / or 302-bit RC2 for Windows 64 without having to use the driver giveio?
Because I have a motherboard with a PCI LPT (not address 0x378) and I can not use.
If it were possible to have the source code for the 32bit version too without using a driver giveio would be great, as well as for Linux.
Thanks
and I apologize for having started with the requests just joined.
here is what happened to start the "brick" ?
first i got router and "ya" then right away uploaded mini dd-wrt and viola!! sweet,, then upgraded to std, still working all good,,,, set up client bridge tested working,,, setup repeater bridge tested working,, awsome i was thrilled,,,, so i started tweeking things,, i no BAD idea!!! ,,,, anyway i turned up the power a little from 70 to 200 (it has a max of 251) tested working,,,, adjusted the cpu freq from 200 to 251,, tested FAILED "bricked" (this cpu has a max of 250),,, didnt see that until after i bricked it,,,
then i read alot,, i mean alot and built a jtag with 4 100 ohm resistors and it works like a jewel,, i can erase flash backup from the jtag with NO errors,, i can get a ping from all lan ports ,,,, i can NOT however tftp anything to it,,, i have tried all of 50 or so different combinations of cfe, nvram, and kernel packages and they all seem to flash with sucess except for the power light is still always blinking and it never lets me in to the gui
after all of that i decided to use this router to learn from and i have bought two more routers a wrt54gs and a wrt54g v2.2 i already have a wrt54g2 v1.5 sitting on the shelf and i might be willing to ship the wrt54g2 v1.5 to ya for your experimentation it still has the factory software and works perfect, i dont want to even try to tackle dd-wrt on the wrt54g2 v1.5 way to complicated,, the wrt54gs and wrt54g v2.2 are on there way "in shipping" and i will inform the group of what happens with them when they arive
i also noticed that when i run a probe everything works down to after it has found the flash chip and then it doesnt look right,,,
*** Found a Intel 28F320c3 2Mx16 BotB (4MB) Flash Chip***
i got some good news,,,, i found my problem,,, there were a couple of botched pins on the flash chip from trying the pin 16 jump out method (witch did NOT work),,,
i got some bad news,,, in a futile attempt at straightening the pins out i broke off pin 17 and now the flash rom stops at 4% always,, erase, flash, and backup ,,,,
now i believe this is truly a "BRICK",,, unless i can find a flash chip for less $$ cuz i can buy another router for the cost of that chip,,
as a side note: after studying the data sheet for the flash rom i noticed that with this particular chip it can be a 4, 8, 16, or 32 mb by pulling one of 4 possible pins high,, so does that mean that one could in theory,, pull the proper pin high and the others low to get the desired size?? as the chip itself is a 32m and it is blocked out down to the factory 4mb through pulling the 4mb pin high..
maybe someone out there needs a wrt54g v2.0 with a faulty flash rom for parts? it has 2 16m ram chips also (ic42s16400-6t),, i believe it is a gs board in a g setup.. the firmware when it was working claimed it was only 4mb flash and only 16mb ram ???????
