Can increasing power decrease range?

Hmm...I just throttled my xmit power down to 70 from 100 per a guideline I read on web that said 70 is safe max.

Now it seems I have reception when I didn't before. I have large antennas on this main router...could increased xmit change doughnut and/or add holes?

Man...I feel like I need some kind of spectrum analyzer to really know if changes are good or not. Do these things still cost several thousand?

There's a $99 USB Spectrum Analyzer, although I've never used it to give you any feedback.
