Firstly, thank you BS for the new version. My short tests yesterday reported good results of the new FW. But my intensive tests today show a different view:

For this reason I want to collect the bugs here to give a chance to fix them. And please don't get me wrong, my intension is to help finding the bugs, not to complain.

BUGS:

0001 - fixed
If in Client mode the router reconnects, the routing to the outside WAN (Internet) is not working anymore. The router looses the default route. At first start you can see the default route. After a reconnect it is lost. This problem doesn't appear in Client Bridge mode.
FW: 0905 (RC2), 0913 (RC3)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: 1010 (RC4)
Workaround (for RC2 and RC3):
Add default route in GUI under Setup->Advanced Routing to you Internet-AP:
Destination LAN IP: 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
Gateway: x1.x2.x3.x4 (=IP of Internet Router/AP)
thanx to "Hocker" for this hint Very Happy
-> This workaround doesn't help in DHCP-Mode, because you do not know the AP-IP.

0002 - fixed
site survey doesn't work in Client Bridge. In 0620 it was working. With newer versions not.
FW: 0905 (RC2)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: 0913 (RC3)

0003 - open
DHCP doesn't work in Client Bridge mode, if using non dd-wrt AP (e.g. FritzBox).
FW: 0905 (RC2), 0913 (RC3), 1010 (RC4), 1106 (Pre RC5), 1123 (RC5)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: -

0004 - fixed
Reconnect after loosing connection or channel change doesn't work.
FW: 0620 an others
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: 0905 (RC2)

0005 - open
Loosing connection in Client/Client Bridge. With new v24rc2 I have reconnects every 5/30/45 min. So very often reconnect is new!
FW: 0620, 0905 (RC2), 0913 (RC3), 1010 (RC4)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: -

0006 - invalid
[solved] Changing and saving the SSID is not saved. After reboot the old SSID is used.
FW: 0905 (RC2)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: invalid
Solution:
I have to use the function "Apply settings", not "Save". Thats not quite logical, but it works...

0007 - fixed
Fonera aka AP using modem ethernet with pppoe. PPPOE not works
FW: 0704, 0905 (RC2), 0913 (RC3)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: 1123 (RC5)

0008 - invalid
In Mode "Client+AP" the router sends the AP-SSID only if Client connection is established.
FW: 0704, 0905 (RC2), 0913 (RC3), 1010 (RC4), 1123 (RC5) and older
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: not fixable
Comment:
This issue is not fixable Sad . See comment from BS. But I think that could be possible if you set a fixed channel.

0009 - open
Bandwidth monitor doesnt't work: With firefox nothing happens, with IE an addon will be installed, but then on my screen popup MessageBoxes: "Fehler" (3 times).
FW: 0913 (RC3), 1010 (RC4), 1106 (Pre RC5), 1123 (RC5)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: -

0010 - open
Driver of fonera works unreliable. It is easily to reproduce if you use the new feature "channel bandwidth [20 MHz, 10 MHz, 5 MHz]". Sometimes the WLAN LED lights continously, sometimes continously not and the fonera hangs.
FW: 0905 (RC2), 0913 (RC3)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: -

0011 - open
Sometimes Fonera in Client+VAP Mode doesn't reconnect with AP. I have to check if Fonera has been crashed or if the reconnect doesn' work properly.
FW: 0905 (RC2)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: -

0012 - fixed
Client + VAP doesn't work. (But ClientBridge + VAP works!)
FW: 1106 (Pre RC5)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: 1123 (RC5)

0013 - open
Not possible to disable regulatory with "nvram set ath_regulatory=off".
FW: 0913 (RC3), 1010 (RC4), 1106 (Pre RC5), 1123 (RC5)
HW: Fonera2100
Fixed: -

If you know other bugs, please leave them in this thread. I will add them to the list.

Bye,
Willi72

0002 is right, i got no site survey results either though not so important as it connects automatically perfectly now, unlike a few monts back...

0003, i dunno... i'm getting dhcp forwarded from host fine, and with wan disabled i got dhcp from the fonera ok too i think.

The following are results using Client-Bridge mode:

0001 -> I can't comment since I have only one F*nera

0002 -> No site survey results here either, but I don't really need it at this point. I second the comment by pepsi_max2k: so far I'm getting quick and stable connections.

0003 -> No problem connecting to a (cough**cough) D-Link DI-524 Rev.A using WPA-TKIP with a long key (see #0002 above).

Looks like a true release candidate to me so far!

>> 0004 Reconnect after loosing connection or channel change doesn't work.
>> 0005 Loosing connection in Client/Client Bridge.

(using client bridge mode...) ok, firstly i've not had 0005 happen on a tkip connection yet, so also can't say properly about 0004. what i can say is using aes then 0005 happened every minute or so, but then it did cycle through the channels and reconnect again once it got to the right one so 0004 seemed to work.

>> 0006 Changing and saving the SSID is not saved. After reboot the old SSID is used.

in client bridge mode i dont have that problem. the only problem i had was the apply setting not working properly a few times (apply.cgi didn't load) so it didn't save correctly. clearing cache / different browser worked fine.

Normally, my fonera doesn't reconnect in Client mode, because the new FW is more reliable. But if I loose the connection (I checked it by removing the antenna for a short time and by changing the channel of the AP), I have this problem.

Now this problem is insignificant, because we have a workaround (see above).

Can't download the root.fs for RC-2 using FF. I have to switch to IE (gag). If I click the download link in FF, I get a box full of hyreoglyphics (code). Thanks!

Does the MAC address cloning work in the new RC2?

Bug 0001 is still alive in 0913 (v24rc3) Sad . It is a real show stopper, because if you aren't able to use the workaround (s.a.), you have a non working router (to Internet).

How does the reconnection feature work? Is it a workaround? I mean it is curious that a reconnection leads to a lost default-route...

0008 will not be fixed. its not possible yet to broadcast beacons if the client is not established in this configured. you can remove it from this list. its no bug. a relay cannot work if there is nothing to relay and the atheros hardware cannot act as a ap and a client at the same time if the client is constantly scanning on different channels. the ap needs a fixed channel which is only available after association

Fonera v24rc3: New bugs found (s.a.).

I recommend using v24rc2 (0905).
