I am trying to get my UML290 and my RT-N16 with DD-WRT 19342 to connect. After reading countless posts regarding these devices, I have yet to find a definitive solution. Currently I am using the stock Asus firmware 3.0.0.4.374_168 with the following settings and it does work as expected:
Enable USB Modem: Yes
Location: USA
ISP: Verizon
APN Service: VZWINTERNET
Dial Number: *99***3#
Pin Code: blank
Username: blank
Password: blank
USB Adapter: Auto
However, when I use the same settings in dd-wrt, the modem will not connect. One thing that jumps right out at me is the Dial Number. *99***3# works in the stock firmware, but there is not a drop down option for the same number in the dd-wrt version. I tried the #99***3#, but no joy. I really want to make this work.
OK. I flashed the dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega onto my RT-N16 and tested it out. I can now select the proper fields from the drop downs, but I cannot clear the Username and Password fields. I need them to be blank. They re-populate themselves after I apply or save the changes. Also, the background in the text boxes is yellow. I am sure that means something, but I cannot for the life of me figure it out.
Bottom line is, still won't connect. I feel like I am missing something really obvious here...

There is no yellow background in those fields, it is likely your browser being told to remember passwords populating the fields and colouring them.
Log in with another browser and I think you will see that they are empty. _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
does your wireless work in that 2.6 version 22118? a few of us had issues with wireless not working on multiple routers.
if you are having problems with wireless, the solution is to downgrade back to 21676 or go to the 3.x version of 22118.
there is a post on 22118 with alot of good info. search for it. _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. LOM - you are correct. The yellow text boxes were provided by my browser. I should have figured that out on my own. Thanks.
MaadMan - I never checked the wireless on build 22118. Spent my time trying to get that stupid USB modem to connect.
I downgraded to dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega after reading the thread regarding build 22118. Modem still will not connect. This thing has got me stumped. Any other suggestions? These are my current settings:
You need to use a 3.x kernel build for that dongle, it is driven by the qmi_wwan driver which was first introduced in linux kernel 3.4 _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
info and instructions for going to 3.x 22118(wireless works) on the RT-N16 is in the 22118 thread you looked at already.
goodluck and hope it all works out _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. I installed dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N16 and my UML290 USB modem connected perfectly! Problem is, I am unable to reach the internet. I have a WAN IP, but I cannot ping the gateway or the assigned DNS servers. I am so close!! Any thoughts?
Sorry - I fixed it. I forgot to change the static IP on my PC back to DHCP. I bricked my router a bunch of times getting the 22118 K3 loaded and mucked around with my nic settings. Bottom line...it works. Thank so much for the help!!
Don't mean to be a pain but... I need help staying connected to the LTE network. On average it drops twice a day and the only way I can get it back is to power cycle the router. I am still using the 22118 K3 firmware which is awesome! I hate to have to go back to my old Cradlepoint MBR1000 (works great but a really boring router).
Is that stating that it requires BOTH acm & qmi? Where is that discussed? I'd love to learn more about the pieces involved here, but searching has not brought me insight into the details involved here.
