Hi, I'm trying to install dd-wrt On a WR941ND v5.0
now, the "router database" states that the v4 firmware could also be used on v5(v4.x/v5.x) but when trying to install dd-wrt on it using the factory-to-ddwrt of any build from 2013 that's available for the v4 router i get the 18005 error:"Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name."
So i did some research and found that the device's cpu is a AR9341 and not AR9132 as stated in the "router database" page, however, it has the same ram & flash size.
Is it possible to install dd-wrt on this router?
a bit more detailed version info:
"Firmware Version:
3.13.31 Build 130105 Rel.66489n
Hardware Version:
WR941ND v5 00000000"
Apperantly, the device is simillar to a wr841nd v8 but has another antenna(3 antennas instead of 2)
So, my question is, can I install the wr841nd v8 firmware on it or would the additional antenna won't allow the firmware to run on this device?

Your source for that?
When the v5 came out about 2 years ago then it was the same router and the same stock firmware as for a v4.
TP-Link has now different download pages for v4 and v5 which indicates that something has changed,
If it is a cpu change then we are stuck with 2 completely different versions of v5
Can you open it and verify that it has an AR9341?
I can easily patch up the header of a similar TP-Link device and make a factory-to-ddwrt file but I want a sure cpu confirmation before doing that.
AR9341 has a 2T2R radio afaik so what is then the 3rd antenna for?

I have posted some photos of the exact same device as mine on the first post, I've tried opening mine but i can't figure out how to open the two clips on the front without breaking the whole case.. however, looking inside the info on the sticker is the same one as the one in the photo, so does the info on the chips and their position.
If the AR9341 has a 2T2R radio then i also have no idea why there is a 3rd antenna too, but there is one & it's connected to the board too as shown in the pics.
I can also post the source from the other forum if outside links are allowed here..
I have just gotten a WR-941ND version 5. I have opened it up and confirmed the chip is an Atheros AR9341, and is in the same position as the pictures in the first post.
I also want to know if it's possible to flash it to DD-WRT. I got this router specifically to do just that; I just didn't get to tell what version I would get before I received it.
This topic clearly is a general problem. As you ve saild we are stuck with 2 completely different versions of v5. So we need V5 with chipset AR9341 of
factory-to-ddwrt.bin and tl-wr941nd-webflash.bin
This is your qutoe

Therefore could please patch it up and relase wr941nd V5 with chipset AR9341 and make a factory-to-ddwrt.bin and tl-wr941nd-webflash.bin files for that. I'll really appreciate it. Otherwise I ve to send back all my wr941nd V5 routers and try to find V3x or smting.
