Open the TP?????????.exe and load the factory-to-ddwrt.bin firmware like AppXene posted
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=767810
and entered the two Hex codes to avoid the 18005 error.
0x40-0x43: 08300002
0x44-0x47: 00000001
finish by clicking the left button on the bottom.
Then I flashed the factory-to-ddwrt.bin firmware via Web_GUI.
After finishing I made another Hardreset to be safe..
HI I followed your steps to here but now my tp link extender will not connect to tp link admin page via wifi or Ethernet - says cannot get IP address - most lights disappeard on device - how to reset to default or get working to continue updates? Please help.

yes get a ddwrt network conection as well as normal wireless connection and Ethernet with cable plugged in but neither ddwrt not Ethernet have internet access -get unindentified network on Ethernet.
When run ipconfig get no dns address on Ethernet but ddwrt has same as main router connected to another pc. Only power light and Ethernet light have on unit now (when Ethernet cable plugged in).
Am connecting this extender tplink to a netbook connected wirelessly to main router. Main pc in another room connected to main router -a Linksys wrt54g with latest ddwrt on it v24 that uses 198.168.1.1 to get to admin page and that is directly connected to isp cable modem via Ethernet.
Maybe some ip conflict btw 2 devices as both using ddwrt so what should be ip for tplink ddwrt to access admin page?
Or could I connect tplink device direct to this cable modem to try again firmware update -turn off other router -is this safe in terms of not affecting main router setup with modem?
I am trying to manually change IP and DNS and see but not sure which connection to change-Ethernet/ddwrt/other.
Update:
----------
Changing IP does not seem to work, I tried also TFTP32,exe tool to manually upgrade firmwares -various and got timeout error. I tried setting static ips via main router to MAC addresses of Ethernet, device and wifi/netbook ip (via DHCP settings)but did not get changed automatically on netbook. However I could ping to the manually changed IPs so-maybe tftp not done right on this router.
If my router bricked how else to change back to tplink firmware I have bin file - other than taking apart unit and connecting things?
OR how to put it into admin recovery mode Tp Link Extender WA830RE V2? I tried another thread re reset button with power off, held down while powering on but power light does not flash -just stays on solid.

Use ip scan software to find out ip
and if there is a wifi network, can you connect to it
Having same prob as others here, earlier posts, tried changing ip can ping it though, no packet loss tpl 128. This is after factory to ddwrt upgrade -now extender v2 only has power and Ethernet lights on, cant access web gui of ddwrt.
Seems maybe a ip or dns issue or is extender bricked?
See my posts above also for more info and how set up with another router. Please can someone help?
Posted: Thu Mar 12, 2015 4:01 Post subject: SOLVED: now can get to admin page
I tried various Tftp progs, commands etc to restore various firmwares, stock etc- got timeout and 1005 errors -not sure if were reloaded to device, but I think main issue was that on my ddwrt connection I see in network connections -the SSID settings were blanked out maybe on reset - I opened it and selected wireless properties and entered my SSID and pword and security setup as have on main primary router on pc in other room. UPDATE: this may not be needed - leave SSID etc as is and try also just combinations of Ethernet cable in and out and connecting to the dd-wrt connection that should pop up and then the login page. If you set it to something else before try that too eg 192.168.1.2 or other in case router not fully reset otherwise 192.168.1.1 should work.
Then when I went to ip address 192.168.1.1 in browser it opened ddwrt admin page and name under it was my dd wrt firmware uploaded for the tp-link extender.
My internet light also came back up on router once got in admin page (flashes though -not solid) but no light for system or router after reboot PC.
I have also reset both ddwrt and ethernet to auto IP and DNS -hope will work now -maybe setting static IP not needed?
Also if plugging in Ethernet disable dd-wrt wireless connection and vice versa and depends on settings in admin page -need dhcp disabled and wlan set as switch it seems to get it working via Ethernet for firmware update -disable also wlan dd-wrt connection first so does not update over wireless if instructions advise not to do over that.
Hopefully this means not bricked either if power is solid light.
Thanks to those who tried to help me.
It is working now as repeater/client bridge.
I also plan to try it as a client bridge with a fetch tv set top box. Any ideas how to get best wifi connection speed for this to stream video/tv- I have main Linksys WRT54G v1 router (sp24 ddwrt) and this extender both on ddwrt?

You did not brick it YOU DID NOT READ that ip you post is from TL now you are DD-WRT 192.168.1.1
Hi, thanks for your answer. I forgot to mention that I tried 192.168.1.1 as well, no pinging at all
Any idea?
Thanks again
edit2: did arp -a and got
? (224.0.0.251) at 1:0:5e:0:0:fb on en0 ifscope permanent [ethernet]
? (239.255.255.250) at 1:0:5e:7f:ff:fa on en0 ifscope permanent [ethernet]
no idea what does it mean.
When I switch it on all the lights go on, then just power is on. Tried continous ping while switching on, no ping at all
Hi read my posts -Astrogirl - further down - last one I wrote has possible solution if your situation with just the power light being on solid is due to same reasons as mine - my ddwrt connection from tp-link extender had lost SSID settings from main router -entering these enabled me to get back to ddwrt admin page 192.168.1.1 ( I did have pings ok though on Tl 128)-router was not bricked. See that post for possible fix.
So I set a static IP of 192.168.0.2 to my ethernet port and I still can't ping...
It's really strange because there is a wifi network from the router, just not the standard one and I do get a connection via ethernet but it seems the routers IP has changed. Any help how to find out the routers ip or how to know for certain it is bricked?

Hi all,
I have a WA801ND Version 2 and I was wondering about support for it.
I am aware that there is no official support because of lack of a donated router and if you want me to move to another topic and/or use the router detector site to gather the hardware info I will.
However I noticed that in the Supported Devices list that the router I have seems to have the exact same hardware as the WA830RE that is tested here and I was wondering if it would be worth it to try and test with the same firmware that was being used.
Looks like working with ALL steps from the wiki. But after sometime the connection can freeze for a while then continue even in local network connections (i.e. to the dd-wrt admin). Should I try r25408 the last ver.?
Is there a recommendation what ver. to use which is 100% stable?
Hi I was able to flash the TL-WA830R3 V2 with build 22118 but I'm suffering the same problem as you, after a while the connection freezes for some seconds and then it continues normally.
I would like to know if you solved this problems in some way, flashing other release or with some configuration tweaks.
Open the TP?????????.exe and load the factory-to-ddwrt.bin firmware like AppXene posted
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=767810
and entered the two Hex codes to avoid the 18005 error.
0x40-0x43: 08300002
0x44-0x47: 00000001
finish by clicking the left button on the bottom.
btw. I changed my WLAN to N-only what didn´t work on the laptop of my wife..not able to connect
When I changed it to "NG-Mixed" everything worked again..strange
took me some hours to find the failure
I've modified the header of the DD-WRT 27506 factory-to-ddwrt build intended for TL-WR841ND v8, so that it will flash on a TL-WA830RE v2 running stock TP-Link firmware.
If this build works for you, it can be further updated with any newer-than-27506 webflash build for TL-WR841ND v8.
Disclaimer: I haven't tested the attached build myself, so I'm not responsible in any way if you brick your router.
Please only flash this build if you know how to unbrick it. _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.
