For heavens sake, everybody asks the same damn question. All I see is "please make a build for this and that" and as soon as I provide one, I get, like clockwork, the next question: "how can I go back to stock ?".

With this kind of attitude, I don't suggest for you to try DD-WRT. Please, just stay on stock firmware.

Im sorry if i offended you in some way, but i have dd-wrt and openwrt on all my devices. Your work is much appriciated and i admire all you guys who spend your time in developing ...

and there is me who spend my time to tell others what to install on their devices... i try to spread around dd-wrt and smilars to peaple who hadn't heard about it never...

So when i ask a question or two it isnt to go back to stock because i fail, but to explain to those people how to do it... as i have now like 8 routers and devices from 8 people, its a little difficolt for me to remember

p.s. the question above was just for info...

New problem.
After several months of good work, my TL-WA850RE refuses to work more.
I've tried all the advices from wiki, but still no success.
During my experiments I can connect to the internet for some time, but after several minutes it is "no internet connection" warning.
But most of the time, I can not even connect to my AP.

And yes, I am talking about TL-WA850RE (US) HW 1.26 DD-WRT version from this topic, working as repeater =(

Need some advice. I've tried everything already.
Even 30/30/30 reset and making all the setup from scratch.
Nothing. What could it be?
Thank you!

Which exact build are you using on your WA850REv1-US ?

Update with WA901NDv3 build 29519:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/04-25-2016-r29519/tplink_tl-wa901ndv3/tl-wa901ndv3-webflash.bin
Reset after the update, then manually reconfigure everything.

Thank you!
But still no luck with that.
And I do not understand what is wrong exactly.
I can connect to my repeater after reset.
But after I change settings (set up virtual interface etc.), I can not connect to it wirelessly.
Not from my laptop, not from my phone...

But, if I understand correctly, my repeater can connect to the main router, since it has the same wi-fi channel now. But inside dd-wrt interface I can see some Tx and Rx errors in ath0 (connection with main router).

If I only knew where to find more detailed information (logs maybe), I would love to share it...

I still have no idea what to do.
I've tried that 29519 build - no help.

And one of my problems is that I rent my house now, so the main router is provided and maintained by the house owner, so I've got no access to it.

I can not change anything there, so I am trying to configure my device. But still nothing. I don't even know the reason, because 1-2 months ago it was working perfectly. But now...

Hi All,

I installed DD-WRT for tl-wr841ndv8 version 12-24-2013-r23204 on my TL-WA850RE v1.25 about 12 months ago.

It is used as a client bridge for the old xbox 360 to connect to my wifi. Main router was a TP-Link TD-W8980 and it was working well.

I've just upgraded the main router to an ASUS dsl-ac68u which is a nice unit, but now I can't log into xbox live through the bridge. I've moved the xbox to my study and everything works fine via ethernet cable, so there's some issue with xbox live running through the bridge to the ASUS. The xbox itself seems happy enough (gets DHCP address, tests work fine), and even my laptop connected to the bridge works a treat. I can swap the ASUS with the old TP link router, and the xbox works once more.

I'm on the latest ASUS firmware.

So, after all that my questions are:

1. Is there a newer DDWRT firmware available for the TL-WA850RE?
2. Are there any compatibility issues between the ASUS (broadcom chipset) and the TP Link (Atheros)?

Cheers,
M

I have a TL-WA850RE V1 and I just updated to 29837 on the recommendation from KrypteX (here) and so far it is working fine in client mode.

Man..wtf..you're asking about the firmware posted in the WA850RE thread in a thread discussing another model ?
Do you think somebody is going to do your homework ?
Ask in that thread, as everybody there are familiar with that model !
