I ported for fun dd-wrt to the Wistron CA8-4 Atheros WiSOC board which is a single a/b/g radio board with 100 mw output power in all of these bands.
i just want to ask if it would make sense to release it to the public. so if there are enough interested people here i will do it _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? Sounds like a Mac to me.." - Louis Rossmann https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL_5YDRWqGE&t=60s

this is a WLA-5200. i'm talking about the WLA-5000
the WLA-5200 is reatek based and really too expensive for that bad chipset. such a board can be obtained for about 30 euro if you know where to buy _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? I am really interested in this build. I have some of this units working fine, but DFS with WDS would be fine. But even better would be, if this build would work with the CA8-4Pro, because it has included a 3-port Switch and have 200mW output power in 802.11a! Also it has a very big advantage, it is available
The Hardware seems very similar, I had openwrt runnig on both.
The third in this row is RDAT-81, even very similar to the other ones but with 2 Radios. The advantages against the buffalo AG108 are here: built in PoE support, 2x SMA Antenna connectors and a bigger case causing less trouble with heat. But it coasts 100€ + VAT :(
Anyway, I would donate 50€ for a firmware supporting any of this APs, 100€ for a firmware supporting two and 150€ for a firmware for all of this devices, as a tribute to Wistron

Any news on this?
Additionally, I remember just now that there are two versions of the CA8-4 and also WLA-5000APv1. Most devices have 32MB Ram but there are also some one with 16 MB (I have some of this here so i am absolutely sure )

mine has 32 mb ram. the build itself is already included in my nightly build progress. i just need todo some flash tests for upgrading from the original firmware on some other units to ensure that nothing will brick _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? these nightly builds are only stored on my internal build server for testing. so far i validated that the 32 mb model is working good. but there is also a 16 mb model which doesnt work yet. i dont know why. i need to find it out first before other people are bricking alot of units with it _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking?
