Hi guys. I went to bestbuy and picked up a DIR-615 I1 hardware model and installed the DD-WRT firmware dir615i1-factory-to-ddwrt-firmware.bin successfully.

Current Configuration:

- ACN Broadband Wireless modem/router with address of 10.100.2.1 running PPPoE. Wireless channel running on channel 11 with WPA/WPA2 Personal TKIP + AES. All working fine. DHCP enabled in range of 10.100.2.2 to 10.100.2.99.

- D-Link DIR-615 i1 router with private address of 192.168.1.1 running DHCP 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.199 and wifi enabled on channel 1 using WPA2 Mixed with TKIP encryption,(AES does not work as described in this thread: http://www.dd-wrt.co...ighlight=dir615)

The DIR-615 I purchased is plugged in to one of the the LAN ports on the back of the ACN router (10.100.2.1) to the internet port on the DIR-615 which the DIR-615 has a given static IP address of 10.100.2.222 . I have attempted to use DHCP to connect through the ACN unit with the PPTP connection in the DIR-615 WAN setup but it gives the same results, not working and connection dropping after 5-10 seconds.

I am having a bit of problems establishing and maintaining a PPTP connection through the HMA (Hide My Ass VPN service from http://www.hidemyass.com). I have also attempted L2TP with no success, same results.

I have read over configuration instructions here:

http://wiki.hidemyas...-WRT_PPTP_Setup

I have followed each exact step and inserted the correct IP addresses to bridge the 2 routers using a DHCP or static IP/gateway and subnet, I have entered in the correct credentials (user name for my HMA VPN account and correct password for the PPTP/L2TP servers) - I am 100% sure about credentials, they work on my iPhone and my HMA VPN Client software for windows and MAC.

When I go into the DIR-615 under the STATUS tab and under WAN, the connection says Disconnected, although there is a CONNECT button I can press which from time to time will establish the PPTP connection to the VPN server specified in the PPTP WAN setup on the DIR-615 however the connection is short lived and drops after about 5-10 seconds. Sometimes pressing CONNECT does not work. I should note that I have also added the 10.100.2.222 as a DMZ host in the ACN device to make sure all connections are going in and out to the unit and nothing is being blocked.

I am visiting http://www.whatismyipaddress.com (or any similar service to double check that the VPN address is being used rather than my normal ISP's IP address while connected to the DIR-615's wireless network) and it shows up as the VPN address like I said for about 5 to 10 seconds but then kicks back to my ISP's given IP address, the status of the WAN shows disconnected.

Is there anyone out there that has had success with the DIR-615 or similar router to connect to HideMyAss.coms PPTP VPN service through the DD-WRT firmware and was able to maintain a connection?

If you have any questions or if I missed something please let me know and I can try to better explain my situation/setup.
Best Regards,

Chris

Hi I find pptp only works for me with the base firmware11/21/10) std - build 15778. If I try any of the newer brainslayer ones pptp doesn't work.
