here is it. should be flashable just straight from factory firmware _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? Sounds like a Mac to me.." - Louis Rossmann https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL_5YDRWqGE&t=60s
Do you maybe got a revert to stock? I got to bring it back to store, the internal antenna is not working good in my house, no got receive by clients. The tplink 1043 was working better.

then your channel doesnt fit to your client adapter. so set a supported channel. i just use static channels and never auto. consider that especially the country setting is often responsible for channel confusion. United States for example has different channels than Germany. so if your client adapter or host system is a german os, it will not connect to all channels since the ap is configured to US by default. but you can change it at advanced settings. just a example. the same applies for other countries too. at lease for 5 ghz.
same for 2.4 ghz. but different. european countries support channels 1 - 13.
but your host os might not support them all. often the client adapter driver is responsible for this. they often support only 1 - 11 unless you apply a dirty hack. i have to modify the registry all the time for my broadcom client adapter to get 1- 13 to work _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? If i want to revert back to stock's firmware, how can it be done? just asking.
you need to modify the original firmware image. strip the bootloader (like for all other tplink devices)
then you can flash it from dd-wrt telnet command line using the mtd command _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? Sounds like a Mac to me.." - Louis Rossmann https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL_5YDRWqGE&t=60s
So now i BRICKED my router trying to get back to stock...
I found a revert file on openwrt page ??
>>>!!! DON`T USE THAT !!!<<<
I also found this little revert description:
•Download / copy with SCP or wget this firmware to the /tmp folder of the router: ftp://everbest.ftpserver.biz/Share/TP-Link/TL-WDR4900%20Firmware/wdr4900nv1_en_3_14_1_up(130304)_beta.bin
•Open a SSH session to the router, cd to /tmp
•Execute the following command: mtd -r write wdr4900nv1_en_3_14_1_up(130304)_beta.bin firmware
•Wait until the router reboots
So i just jumped onto it, and tried to flash the stock firmware...
A couple of things happned..
1. The "(" in the filename was not accepted, so i renamed the file.
2. root@WDR4900:/# mtd -r write /tmp/wdr4900nv1.bin firmware
Could not open mtd device: firmware
Can't open device for writing!
I still had access to the router from telnet and SSH as i did not reboot the router.
So i was reading a lot more, and then i thought i found a solution, as we don´t have the "firmware" in dd-wrt, instead we have "Linux"...
mtd -r write /tmp/wdr4900nv1.bin linux
Unlocking linux ...
Writing from /tmp/wdr4900nv1.bin to linux ... [e]Erasing mtd failed: Linux
I still didn´t turn off the router, so i had still access...
Then i read some more and i found this instead:
mtd -e linux -r write /tmp/<firmwarefilename.bin> linux
Still error...
But now for some reason i had a power glitz in this area, and NOW the router is DEAD...
Hmmm... So it is not that easy after all to revert back to stock...
But now i have the option to do the right thing and just buy a rock solid WDR4300 instead...
Hello,
For several months, I have wdr4900. So far, I've only used the stock firmware, but I think that the router is too low productivity with this image. Behind the router has a server with about 60 peers, when I reboot my server, peers connect very slowly, it takes about 10 minutes. In comparison with my old router linksys + dd-wrt, all peers are connected within 30 seconds. I think this router with the original firmware can not handle a large number of concurrent sessions. I want to ask someone who has experience to say what is the maximum speed that can be achieved through the wan / lan with dd-wrt? How deal with a large number of concurrent sessions (approximately 1000)? Can we rely on good reliability, it crashes (as I said, I have a server and this is important)?
Special thanks to the people who took care of the maintenance of the DD-WRT!
