Hi all,

I setup the TP-LINK WA830RE, loaded it up with DD-WRT and configured as a 'booster' in the "Client Bridge (Routed)" mode.

The thing is that.. the signal never improved. But then I added another virtual interface with another name and voila !! signal strength increased a lot.

Just trying to understand what is happening here... any thoughts ? Here is an image.

How do you put this into repeater mode? I don't have any option to do this. I want to use the switch as a wireless extender and don't seem to have such a setting.

Which technically is odd as this switch is ment to be an extender Smile

I'm new to DD-WRT!

oc_nooby,

These are the instructions that you need to follow to use the device as a 'Signal Booster' or 'Range Extender'

Hi guys, my wa830re is brick. I did a lot of tests but I can not restore. The only solution would be through a JTAG port, but unfortunately I can not because the repeater does not have a serial adapter. Does anyone have any other solution discarding tftp, ftp, jtag, 30-30-30 .. etc. .. etc. ... I trust in someone, thanks!

Yeah! It works!

I had this thing for well over a year. The stock firmware was, well, crap. Power cycling every two to three days...

In short: flashed 830 to ddwrt, then the 801 firmware. Setup a virtual interface with same SSID and same PSK as the main AP.

Two weeks since. No need to restart/power cycle.

COOL! Tnx DD-WRT!

hi guys,

nice forum, and awesome work to make crappy devices a kind of useful.

my problem:
can someone please re-upload the file in this link?

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=85237&start=322

it is not existing anymore and I need the R19342 for my wa830REv1.
in my opinion it is the latest brainslayer firmware for this device, right?
Correct me if I am wrong.

an re-upload would be so great or please tell me which is the right one Smile

Test file of r19342 while waiting for Brainslayers official support.

Use WA801NDv1 files for updates until the router gets its own build.

Use WA830RE v1 revert files from the sticky Revert Files thread if you want to revert to stock firmware.

Sash wants the dmesg from this build for a possibly quicker dd-wrt official support.

Thank you so much, works flawlessly.
