I just ordered this today. I am hoping at least it has dd-wrt like some of their other routers.

Long time user of dd-wrt just never needed to make an account.

I just order this bad boy too. It's replacing my WNDR3400. Can't wait!

Hopefully there will be dd-wrt for it soon!

@joecop67 - I WAS going to order a RT-N66U this morning because these two are about the same price. That's the only thing that was "funny".

@phenixdragon - according to their own website in the comparison product view. It did not list it having dd-wrt. But we all can only hope!

Supposedly, it ships with dd-wrt flashed already.

This product has the new pre-standardized/ draft 11ac wireless protocol. Don't think dd-wrt supports it yet.

the you tube video buddy linked does state that dd-wrt is loaded on the device and the ac proto is running. dd-wrt does make the firmware for buffalo these days.

The linked video is for a WZR-1750H, not the D1800H

I have been burned and learned about buying the latest and greatest. I'll wait for a while. Below are the routers I bought when they 1st hit the streets:

wrt610n V1 - radio performance sucked, and a few weeks later, they came out with the V2 that had better radio performance and a faster processor.

wrt610 V2 - Not long after going to market, they invented the E3000 which in my opinion, smoked the V2 in all resects. I know the hardware is the same.. Must have been some changes in the cfe.

rt-n16 - 1st batch of routers had a high hardware failure rate. I had to RMA my 1st one as well as many other forum members. Huge flash & ram, this device is also limited to 32k nvram.

rt-n66u - we all know about the nvram issue.. However, I knew about it when I bought it (shame on me). I also think there is going to be trouble down the road. The back of the unit, where the antenna's connect, gets "stupid hot"

In summary.. I'm going to wait for a while before I buy the latest & greatest and see what the reviews are once the device has been in the bush for some time.

You forgot the Linksys E4200, oh wait...

Anyway, in addition to the unfinalized specs the lack of adapters that support these speeds is another reason to wait.

Never bought one of those. I was saving up for the rt-n66.
You can get a V1 refurb (E4200) from the linksys store for around 100 bucks (If I recall. Checked a few days ago)

I guess I will find out on Thursday if it does have dd-wrt. Since the Video..specs *can* change. Probably not a firmware within 4 months... I hope for the best!

Did a little more research into this unit..

Contrary to the video of the earlier this year CES, the unit supposedly does not ship with dd-wrt, and is broadcom based.

Currently I use two 320n to connect up-stairs and down-stairs networks with WDS N-5Ghz for 90-110Mbit/s real world transfer rates.

I read that these units do not support WDS, yet. I would get 2 of these units once they support WDS for a 1Gbit/s WDS network upgrade.

FWIW: Part 1 of the 802.11ac review for this router is up...
