hi,

I'm not very familiar with linux,so this question may have a very simple solution... I managed to install the x86 free version on a system for testing purposes by using the linux dd-write method.

the system boots, no problems so far.
Now I just cannot figure out, where on the filesystem I have write permission and where I can place my own stuff like new packages installed by ipkg.

I read many threads in this forums and I found discussions about how to increase the disk space(talking about part3). I did a "mount" to check what is mounted and it seems to me like the disc0/part3 mounted as /usr/local is the place I'm looking for. Unfortunately this is mounted read-only?! So of course also my ipkg install fails...

so what am I doing wrong?! is this a free-version limitation?!

ok this was quite simple...

I found the solution somewhere in a thread mentioning a completely different topic :)

just do a:

mount /usr/local -o remount,rw

and it works...
