I converted this router that was previously running Tomato as it was starting to have issues with QoS + WiFi in the latest versions and now that the Linux 2.6 kernel has been deprecated for some time.
The printer only worked in Tomato via USB 1.1. However, I can't find a setting to turn that on.
I've tried insmod usbcore, insmod usb uhci-hcd, insmod usb ohci-hcd, but terminal complains about these .ko modules missing.
I've seen the wiki on enabling JFFS, but that seems to refer to the older Kernel 2.4 branch. I've also watched a few YouTube tutorials, and their printers are detected when typing lsusb.
I'm guessing that Tomato has this package installed on default? Can someone point me in the right direction? _________________ ASUS RT-AC68R: 42954

Ok now I've read optware is too old and not supported on ARM routers, so entware is the solution?
At this rate, I am considering running another old AP on Tomato and just use the printer feature from there. _________________ ASUS RT-AC68R: 42954

I tried a different router E3000 running r30432 K.3.10.102, and it detects the printer.
dmesg displays a bidirectional printer detected.
Test printed a page. It works.
Maybe this is an ARM-only problem or perhaps like you said k4 only problem?
I went back to Tomato for now since I think it's ridiculous to run two devices to do one thing. _________________ ASUS RT-AC68R: 42954

I'll try it later, but that seems bad if I can't update to any newer builds if that's the last K3 build. _________________ ASUS RT-AC68R: 42954

usb printing was problematic in a number of k4 and k3 builds. i have been using recent K4 Kong builds, including latest (30465M - 2016/08/23) successfully with usb printing.
