DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/27/13) std
(SVN revision 21676), everything is working great in AP mode, automatic DHCP, wireless N, no encryption only mac filter, TL-WR740N v4.2 .
i have a wr740n that i intended to use in repeater mode, however after flashing different builds i don't get the repeater option under the wireless section. i only get AP, Client, Client Bridge, Ad-Hoc, WDS AP, and WDS Station.
Change WPA Algorithms in Wireless Security tab to TKIP only. AES and AES+TKIP options do not work, it is known bug in dd-wrt firmware for TP-link TL-wr740N v4.
I have a TL-WR740N v4.23 and when I try to flash with dd-wrt I get an error:
Quote:
Error code: 18005
Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.
For first flashing I used file factory-to-ddwrt.bin.
I have tried with file renaming to be like stock name but no success.
Any idea how to resolve this withut HW manipulation?
Now I am getting somewhere.
Hence, the problem was in the wrong stock firmware (TL-WR1043ND) installed on new router from unopened box . After flashing it with correct firmware I have managed to flash with dd-wrt and then with webflash to version (sp2 build 21061).
Now the problem is that WAN can not get IP address from ISP (DHCP). And the LEDs for local networks don't work no matter to which I connect (1-4).
I've just got WR741 V4.24 and tried both the firmware listed in the db and the latest r22118 with IE, both of them have problem with WAN LED and unable to connect (DHCP) LAN 1-4 LED are working tho
build 22118:
1. solved AES issue in wireless security, now you can connect with AES, AES+TKIP and TKIP
2. I discovered that mac adderess cloning doesn't work I had to use the following script in startup, which I found on dd-wrt forum:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
nvram set wan_hwaddr=`nvram get def_hwaddr`
ifconfig `nvram get wan_ifname` down
ifconfig `nvram get wan_ifname` hw ether `nvram get def_hwaddr`
ifconfig `nvram get wan_ifname` up
kill -USR2 $(pidof udhcpc) 2> /dev/null
killall udhcpc 2> /dev/null
/usr/sbin/udhcpc -i `nvram get wan_ifname` -p /var/run/udhcpc/pid -s /tmp/udhcpc

Hello
My name is Marcos Silva.
I have this TL-WR740N v4, and i saw that there was an online manager called Tanaza, where they have their own firwmware:
Access Point Name: Tanaza-f8d111620679 Help
Vendor: Tp-Link (Tanaza Powered) Help
Model: TL-WR740N v4 Help
Firmware Version: 2.0.0 Help
Added to Tanaza on: 24/07/2013 20:01:46 Help
Latest Revision: 06/08/2013 10:05:33
The problem is that using this online wifi/cloud manager made me loiose a lot of otion that the stock firware was giving me and the internet speed is much lower that before because of my link connection between the router and the laptop(should be 150mb and i only get 72mb)
This page gave me a way to install the stock on but i dont know how to do it, is possible that someone could explain it to me, maybe a youtube clip.
hereis the procedure thet they gave to me, because after i want to install DD-WRT firware
Build 22118:
I observed that wireless it used to disappear suddenly several times a day, but wireless led is on. I had to reboot router to have the wifi broadcast again.
EDIT: Solved by setting the wireless channel to non Auto.
So I've set up a client bridge in my WR740N. The point was to get a stronger Wi-Fi signal on my study, where coverage from the ISP router is pretty crappy (though I get a decent 30 Mbps internet connection with 20% signal strength).
The problem is, placing WRT740N halfway to the main router, internet speed is slower (6~7Mbps) than with a direct connection to the main router. A 1/2 cut in bandwith would be expected for wireless clients, but connecting with the ethernet cable only gets me up to 1 Mbps.
The total bandwith at the main ISP router is around 130 Mbps. Am I doing something wrong here?
I tried build 22118 on TL-WR740N V4.26, I wish to inform every body that I have tested quite a few functions, like PPPoE, DDNS, PPTP VPN SERVER, NAT, SSH,
and wireless function in WPA2 with TKIP+AES and mixed mode 40Mhz, LED lamps on LAN & WAN all work fine. I have not tested mac address clone ...can any body report about its functionality?
How it can be that I have perfect ping from windows machines (2-5ms) and slow ping spikes from OSX machine (40-200ms). All machines are clear and only difference is that OSX machine has N type of adapter
