I have a WNDR4500v1.

I followed the instructions here:

https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNDR4500

And successfully installed dd-wrt 26138 mega.

From here:

https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation#Upgrading_to_a_Newer_Version_of_DD-WRT

I know to do a 30/30/30 reset before *and* after upgrading.

So...I want to upgrade to the latest stable release without bricking my router.

This thread here:

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=318559

Implies 37305 works without bricking. But what is the "official" stable release? Do builds get tagged with "release", "stable", etc? How do I determine in the future which release is "latest stable" ?

For anyone that *has* bricked their router with a "bad" release version, were you able to recover via tftp method?

After a long time I reactivated an old WNDR4500v1 and flashed it with version 40400.

After a week I can now say that this version runs quite stable and is suitable for "normal" applications.

I use WLAN 2.4 and 5 ; a restart is done once a week automatically ; VPN PPTP Server works; WLAN Scheduler works; transfer rates also fit (dl80/ul10)

Flashing was completely unproblematic via the GUI - version 29002 was in use for over a year.

A good way to give an old device a second or third life
Very Happy

This thread was locked due to it's cumbersome size at some point; please, for initial flash, try 21676 first, not the build in the wiki. Then upgrade to a current release.
