still waiting on support for an option via serial/network

as mine is dead with factory firmware right now but i can get the factory loader and firmware to flash over network... it just seems that the wireless may have failed/fried

if you need to test am image or to see if it can load over serial, i'll try it out for you.

Hi,
Adding another vote to dd wrt on the 2100AP !

Ramponis Sir ?
I wonder if you could do me a big favour ?
The pdf document you have on your site ? could you or a friend translate it into english please. I am very interested in the work and mods you are doing.

Also, what can be done via the serial port ?. I note it has serial as well as jtag.
Many thanks

Also, a great tip for 2100AP users is to download the 2200AP manual !, it is aimed at the pro user, not the home user, and explains in great details the stuff that the 2100ap manual doesnt .
The 2200AP is POE, where the 2100 isnt.. but the manual for the 2200AP is VASTLY superior.

Another thing re the power hack, I would avoid caution as another user stated. The noise goes up as you increase power, far safer to use a better antenna.
Also, one to watch for those adding external antennas, the 2100 has TWO antenni, not on, it has the rev sma external, AND an internal. So uses rx diversity. You COULD add another rev sma connector and fit two higher gain antenni for improvement, but just adding one to the external should be fine.
If you increase the gain of the external antenna, you 'may' see some benefit in turning off diversity and set the unit to use only the single (external) antenna. I am presuming the single external is ALWAYS used for tx anyway, the diversity is rx based.

This IS a rather nice, good value unit, but has no routing capabilities. to add such with DD WRT would be great.

To the poster who seems to have fried the wireless on his unit ?.
what does a
get power
and
get wlanstate
at the extended cli in telnet give you (Just a thought)

Do you know how much power DWL-2100 can take and switch down to its inbuilt operational power handling?
I will build a passive POE and wonder where the maximum voltage i can put in. Now its 5v 2A.

Can i use switched power to it? I think the external power supply is unswitched.

Hi
Ramponis did a mod, see his website doc, not english though I'm afraid.
Dont know what reg is built into the 2100. I want to use a simple poe for this box (and for a G810), but due to a short run am only putting 12v up the cable and then using a 78S05 v reg to drive the thing (Unless the Ramponis mod can work at up to the standard 48v ?? dunno)
The 12v is to also feed a 1 watt 2.4Ghz commercial amp to the hi gain antenna.
Dont forget to isolate the power to the cat5 cable TO the poe injector... Smile

I am sure Ramponis will add his thought.

Its an 2000ap+, but im only interested in how much voltage it can take and switch down to its internal need before they burn up. I work both with 2200 aktiv poe, 2100 and 2000 passive poe.
