I have set up an E1000 v2.1 as a client-mode router and it's been working fine. It has been running with the following firmware for some time now, without any major problems:
Code:
Router Model: Linksys E1000 v2.1
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) std-nokaid-small - build 21061
Kernel Version: Linux 2.6.24.111 #14316 Mon Mar 25 02:27:52 CET 2013 mips

I would like to upgrade to a more recent firmware, if possible, and my research so far tells me that others have had success (w/o any mention of client mode though)-- here is one relevant comment:

Quote:
Firmware version 33555 dated 10/20/17 runs on this router, but doesn't have the final Broadcom fix for the KRACK vulnerability in WPA2. KRACK fixes for Broadcom were completed in SVN 33678, but build 33679 is missing many files, so it is recommended to use 33772 or newer, after reviewing New Build threads.

I have read the peacock thread, and the links at the bottom of the signatures, although I suspect I may have missed some detail somewhere. I have also backed up the CFE, and taken screenshots of all config screens.

I am not sure if the comments about Repeater mode being broken also apply to client mode. @jwh7 -- do you know if this is the case?

For the record, I connect to the primary router with WPA2 AES.

Thank you for any insight on this. It's fine to also suggest that I leave it alone.

K2.6 client modes are fine. The last few builds (since 35927) are good; check the build threads for k2.6 reports.

Thank you. I grabbed this:

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/06-01-2018-r36079/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-36079_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_e1000v2.bin

As soon as I have it installed and running sufficiently well, I'll report back here and on the build thread.

Thank you again.

I have a 2.1 as well, did that version work for you?

I just installed it and without looking too deeply, it seems to work just as well as it did with the old firmware. I expected I'd need to reconfigure it, but it looks like all the settings carried across the upgrade. I didn't do a 30-30-30 reset before, or after.

I did the upgrade through the GUI. It was easy and quick.

Do you have any idea if this build works in Repeater Bridge mode as well? I have the E1000 v2.1 as well. I need it to work as a repeater to extend my wifi.

Actually I tried to use the firmware from the router database but its unstable, it hangs after sometime.
by the way I have the linksys e1000 v2.1

Thats the reason I wanna try the older versions.
