I have flashed
dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_nokaid_small.bin
everything seems to work fine except PPPoE

i enter username and password but it doesn't connect

I have set the MTU setting to Auto and it shows that i have internet connection in windows but i can't connect to google, and shows dissconnected in ddwrt status control panel. i pressed connect button but nothing changed.

what shall i do? thanks in advance.
PS: i really need to set this up because stock firmware is way too vulnerable to any attacks

EDIT:

I'VE MADE IT!!!
Log into your DD-WRT VPN router and go to the main “Setup” page. Leave everything as is, but under “Network Setup” -> Router IP -> Local IP Address you have to change the third number of the address from the default 192.168.1.1. If you are having the same problem I was having then that means that the ISP router has that address and somehow, and I don’t know why (someone else can elaborate), there is a conflict. This was not a problem on my old router but on this new one it was. Anyway, you have to change the third number in the VPN router’s Local IP address to something other than the default. My ISP Router was 192.168.1.1 and therefore I made my router 192.168.2.1. After I did this, everything worked flawlessly. Just remember that to access your DD-WRT router now, you will have to enter the new address instead of the default.

I was using an old 2011 build that had some issues with port forwarding. Now it's all resolved. Thanks guys.

Folks
This is my first post on this forum and I apologize if someone has already confirmed thi. I have read so many posts, plus all links recommended by this forum, and at the end i am confused.

I want to flash DDwrt for the first time on my E1000 v2.1

revmarkp said " As (I think) is recommended I have flashed with:
dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_e1000v2.bin
(described as 'Webflash image for first installation') "

Can anyone else confirm this version works fine with Linksys E1000 V2.1?

I've also see people suggesting the version below instead:
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/07-24-2013-r22118/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_e1000v1.bin

My concern is: the one mentioned by revmarkp says " Webflash image for first installation", but the second one doesnt say that. SHould I use the one recommended y revmarkp and router database first (i know, there are lots of posts saying DO NOT trust on router database"?

Thank you guys?

Better be late than never. I can confirm that the "dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_e1000v2.bin" works on my E1000 v2.1. And yes, worked for my first DD-WRT flashing. I have downloaded this from the router database and I am using it right now.

Now, for my problem. I have downloaded the version said above, flashed it for the first installation, worked like a charm. On AP mode on my network right now. The problem is, I need chillispot, and we all know that chillispot is not available on mini-fied version.

So I tried flashing a "mini hotspot" version. But, I can't seem to make it work. I flashed nokaid version, flashed fine. Flashed the firmware from page 2, also flash as fine. Reverted back to the first installation version 21061, again, flashed fine. But the mini_hotspot version doesn't flash right. It says upgrade successful, but no. It is still on the previous firmware I have "upgraded" from.

I've tried different steps, including the ones in the peacock thread, but this firmware, this only firmware, the k26 mini_hotspot version doesn't flash right.

I should note that upon upgrading the firmware, it will only take 10 seconds to reload and show the upgrade successful page. I don't know why.

Anyone can help me?

EDIT::::::

Ok, so I bricked it. L-O-L.

Flashed it with a svn 14929 mini_hotspot build. Bad mistake.

The router boots, wlan led not lighting up. when you plug a cable to a lan port, restarts itself. Tried pinging every possible IP I have setup. No luck. Destination host unreachable. Even tried the default IP after a re-flash. No luck also.

I screwed up. Big pain in the butt. hehehe

Will be buying a new router I guess. But I hope anyone in the future that can read this won't make the same mistake. Ciao.

Linksys E1000 v2.1 DD-WRT Installation Guide:

Alright, after a lot of research I finally figured out the best way to get the E1000 v2.1 running a good, working version of DD-WRT. Here's what I did:

To install DD-WRT for the first time on your E1000 v2.1 over the stock Linksys firmware, download dd-wrt.v24-16968_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_e1000v2.bin from here and use the installation guide for the E1000 v1 on the wiki which can be found here.

Once you have DD-WRT installed on your E1000 v2.1, you should now use the following instructions from the Peacock thread to install build dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_nokaid_small.bin which can be downloaded here.

Quote:
The proper process for flashing when upgrading EXISTING dd-wrt firmware is:

1. Set your computer to a static IP of 192.168.1.8 Disable all firewalls and security. Disable wireless on your computer and only have the router connected to the flashing computer by the ethernet cable between the two.

2. Hard reset prior to flashing. Wait. Check for password page on re-login and change password.

3. Flash firmware using the dd-wrt webgui upgrade page

4. Wait...at least three minutes. Lights should return to normal. See important2, below. Failing to wait is how most people brick their routers.

5. Do a power cycle of the router. (Unplug the cord, count to 30 and plug it back in.)

6. Wait for the lights to return to normal usually about 2 minutes.

7. HARD reset again. Wait. Check for the password page and re-login to change the password. Then you can reconfigure your settings manually.

8. Once configured set your computer back to autoIP and autoDNS.

Important2: After you flash the firmware, and before you do the hard reset, the router will be building some nvram settings. YOU MUST WAIT FOR THIS TO FINISH PRIOR TO DOING ANYTHING WITH THE ROUTER INCLUDING A HARD RESET. Usually, you can tell when this process is completed by the WLAN light coming on, but it does take several minutes. Go have a beer. There are starting to be more and more people who BRICK their routers by not waiting until the nvram is rebuilt, PRIOR to doing a hard reset. YOU NEED TO WAIT!

I hope I could help out someone who was confused. Smile

Followed the instructs above by tiptan38, but the router bombs and disconnects almost immediately after I try to update to the nokaid firmware.

His method may work in some, not all, v2.1 routers.

Is there any way I can get the extended qos version for the e1000 v2.1? I've successfully installed dd-wrt build 21061 on it, and I would say that the only thing that's missing is the extended qos settings.

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys. Looking to get DDWRT working on an e1000v2.1

Having a hard time getting past the initial flash posted in the router database. (dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_e1000v2.bin)

Initial build flashes fine. Any attempts to flash any subsequent mini build result in an error. Tried a 30/30/30. Using chrome to access ddwrt. Any help appreciated.

EDIT: USED FIREFOX TO FLASH AND IT WORKED.

That said, i am still having issues getting repeater bridge to work.

Repeater Bridge is not working with K26_mini builds, see http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=992518#992518

You could try
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/11-16-2015-r28211/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-28211_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn_small.bin

Something is wrong with all builds for E1000v2.1. The repeater function causes the router to stop broadcasting a wifi signal with security such as WEP or WPA/WPA2. With no security, repeater works as expected. Can this problem be investigated?

Next, if you enable wireless bridge function, without a wifi virtual connection, the router works great so long as its only connected to ethernet devices. The moment you add a wifi virtual connection with ethernet devices connected, the wireless chip fails to operate and the router no longer receives internet connection. Can this problem also be investigated?

I've upgraded my e1000v2.1 to the latest build 12/24/15 build K2.6 28598 std_nok_aid_small.bin. It is not a configuration problem.

Good day, first time to install custom firmware on my E1000 v2.1. I successfully install DD-WRT (dd-wrt.v24-16968_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_e1000v2) and I'm about to moved on to Tomato. What could be the possible steps of this without bricking my router?

I stumbled on this article https://scottlinux.com/2013/06/13/how-to-flash-wrt56gl-from-dd-wrt-to-tomato-shibby/ and the author said he flash his DD-WRT to Tomato Base version before upgrading to Tomato Shibby build. Do I have to do this also as well for my E1000 v2.1 or The uprading from DD-WRT to Tomato Shibby is straightforward (30/30/30 -> Shibby FW -> wait ->30/30/30)?
