My WRT54G v5 loses internet connection after downloading a torrent with uTorrent. I have to power cycle the router to make it work again. Actually, it's not just the Internet connection, when I try to connect to the router with my other devices, they can't get the WPA key exchange or something. My hypothesis: The router overloads because the many parallel connections made during the download, am I correct? But funny thing is, this didn't happen with the original Linksys firmware. What is happening?

Your Ram is getting full causing the router to crash. Lower the number of allowed connections in the torrent app or get a newer router with more ram.
