I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I've got an older WNDR3400 v1 that is running 17990 mega, and I would like to upgrade it to 33772 mini. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but when I do the firmware upgrade, it jumps to "upgrade successful" in just a few seconds and after doing a 30/30/30 I find that it's still running v24 sp2 17990.
Can someone point me to the correct steps for upgrading, or offer some insight?
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I get the same behavior after starting the firmware update, the countdown page appears for 8 seconds and then I get "upgrade successful". After a 30/30/30, 17990 is still on the router.
Malachi, I followed your advice and re-flashed with router with factory firmware, reset, and then uploaded the K3.x Mega CHK build. This resulted in a bricked device and the only way I could recover was to short the pins. Best I can recall, I then tried to upload the K2.6 mega from 33679 and it bricked as well.
The only thing I've been able to accomplish so far is flash the 33679 K2.6 Mini CHK and then follow that with the same mini version in .BIN format. When I initially upload the CHK build, the LAN ports would not respond and the only way to access the router was via the WLAN on 2.4Gz (Even though the router 5Gz LED was the only one lit up). Very odd.
I wasted three hours on this thing and almost relegated it to target practice. Frustration is an understatement.
I only need to run the WLAN on this device in client mode so I can add a couple RJ45 devices in another location. Are there any know issues with 33679? I'm tempted to just leave it as is.
