i am ready to play around with some new firmware, however i seem to be confused as to which set of instructions to follow for installing it

first there is the installation guide in the wiki (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php?title=Installation), pretty straight forward, right...

then there is at least one link to another site that has a completely different set of instructions (http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow.asp?WRT54G5%5FCFE#h7)

which one do i use?

and did i read somewhere that you have to install v23 first before installing v23sp1 or can i just install sp1?

thanks

The two sites you mention aren't completely different sets of instructions, it's just the DD-WRT wiki hasn't been updated to reflect the most recent changes. Neither has that site the previous poster mentioned.

The latest information can always be found here:

http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow.asp?WRT54G5%5FCFE#h25

This is where the other guides get their information..

Is there any more info for those of us with V5 that were not able to get the micro-generic image to take?

I've sent the image over 3 times now and I'm stuck with flashing power LED.
My other lights are not constantly lit (that and I can still TFTP to it after power cycle), so I haven't bricked my router yet.

Should I try v24?

Seriously in need of help...thanks!
