I wrote small program that adds Buffalo header to dd-wrt generic firmware. Use it for initial flashing of your Buffalo router (GUI flashing)

Maybe it is useful for somebody not able to hex edit himself.

Windows version 0.1 available - if you need it for not listed model, I'll add it.

Code:
C:\c\lcc1>ddadder

ddadder v0.1 - add Buffalo header to input file (c) Eko

 usage:

ddadder inputfile model

 inputfile: generic dd-wrt build

 supported model strings:

  wla-g54
  wla-g54s
  wla2-g54l
  wbr-g54
  wbr2-g54
  wbr2-g54s
  wli-tx4-g54hp
  wzr-rs-g54

C:\c\lcc1>ddadder dd-wrt.v23.bin wzr-rs-g54

Selected model: wzr-rs-g54
input file size = 3698688
File dd-buffalo-wzr-rs-g54.bin written with added Buffalo header
C:\c\lcc1>

Would you care to share the source code?? I'm sure BS would be interested in it. Not to mention we could make a Linux binary as well and BS could post both.
Regards

PS any one have any clues on the hdr for the newer products?

Just download latest firmware from buffalo site and get header. Except some (WHR-G54S, WHR-HP-G54 which have compressed firmware)

Okay so here is the linux binary with the modified source. I would love to make a gui but not sure that I could do one thats portable. Guess after almost a year of lerking I thought I should contribute something other than to BS new car Wink although I blew it by not setting up in the store I think before sending the $. Just never had any questions to ask... yet..., I think I might have one coming though Laughing Anyway, this works a treat and will help keep someone from fubaring things, great idea and nice work.
Cheers

No, firmware for WHR.. and some other new Buffalo models is encrypted with Buffalo's secret code.

not that secret anymore, but i need alot of cpu power to break the code. i know the format, i know the encryption but i'm still tired with disassembling the decryption code to find the key.

hmmm well, installing tomato with provided batch and simply upgrading from tomato gui worked fine!!!

p.s. you really need to upload your own simple batch, this would make installing so much easyier!
