I purchased a Japanese WZR-HP-AG3004/EV and following chinaguys instructions, I was successfully able to upload the English version of the latest FM from Buffalo.
One thing I did run into.... I kept getting a weird error message when trying to log on to the maintenance page, turned out to a problem with Chrome... switched to Firefox and it worked fine.

Does the US firmware preclude you from using Channel 14, which is allowed in Japan? I've found my AG300H to be flaky with this; my Linksys WRT54GL has no problem.

I upgraded to the US official v1.78 firmware as my intent is just to get rid of the regular loss of wifi connection on the 2.4ghz band that was not fixed with the official 1.72 from buffalo japan

Sorry for the newbie question/problem, but I am trying to follow the instructions and I got stuck in the "—- UNDER CONSTRUCTION — " page. I tried to flush the cache of IE and Chrome but no different results. Any suggestions?
I am under win 8.1 and the router is th japanese WZR-300HP
Additionally you can also download latest DD-wrt image from DD-wrt website. For me I could not find WHR-300HP in dd-wrt site but WHR-HP-G300N firmware is working since the hardware is similar. I think it is just difference in model name.
