I know you explained what you mean by "nutrients" but it seems juvenile.

the dlna name shows the router name yes. this is correct and wanted. you know why? most users keep the router name default so all dlna servers would share the same name. bad idea. so i choose the routers name
i changed it now to use the routers name and will look how user response is

When you put it that way, wouldn't it be better if the "router name" had the model number already typed in which users could change later on themselves? Or maybe an option to use model or router name with a bubble select.

Something like that. Just trying to help out here since its my idea after all.

there is no pro or contra against it. writing the own name like "dd-wrt" is some sort of network based advertisement. so yes. i have a benefit Smile

seems there alot of wireless issues with the 1200ac. i sure cant get the 5ghz to stay at a steady speed, my isp provides 180 down and on 5ghz i get 170 sometimes and then 10 minutes later i test again at 30. no issues on any other router.

Router:
WRT1900AC V1 1.2Ghz

Firmware:
v3.0-r28320M kongmv (11/25/15)

Kernel:
Linux 3.18.24 #18 SMP Wed Nov 25 08:35:36 CET 2015 armv7l

Status:
Uptime: 2 days, 16:40 (was at 21 days with Kong 28100 before upgrading to 28320)
Load Average: 1% - 0.00, 0.01, 0.04
CPU Temperature: CPU 42.8 °C / WL0 29.7 °C / WL1 31.6 °C (with external cooling)

Reset:
Soft reset (GUI), upgraded from within stock GUI

Errors:
None.

Notes:
I had pretty good luck with stability and performance on stock firmware but just a few nagging issues that led me to exploring DD-WRT.

First, the stock firmware had limited diagnostic capabilities and the main tool (Network Map) was ridiculously unstable and buggy, even in the latest updates. Obviously, that's all gone with DD-WRT - the diagnostic capabilities between the two firmwares aren't even comparable.

Second, while I like that the stock firmware put Guest wireless on a separate logical network with a different IP address range (something other vendors do not do in stock firmware), I did not like that I had no control over the captive portal. It's extremely insecure and the 24-hour timeout setting wasn't always 24 hours, sometimes it was right in the middle of a VoIP call. DD-WRT gives me the best of both worlds in that regard - a dedicated Guest SSID that never times out but still on a separate logical network with it's own DHCP and other resources.

Overall, 2.4Ghz performance is about the same as stock. However, 5Ghz range and performance on this latest build are superior to stock by quite a little bit.

I honestly feel like for the first time since buying this router 18 months ago, I've finally unlocked it's full potential.
