Problem:
1.I need mega, with openvpn!
but i have only std (no openvpn)

is there any solution of installing dd-wrt mega? on 841nd
it has only 4mb. i think no chance for openvpn.

2. In wireless, there is no advanced setting? where i can manualy set wifi power of transmittion.

there is no mega here, thats broadcom. atheros builds fit everything they can, if its not there it doesnt fit.

dont get a cheap 4mb flash router when u want powerful features, faster cpu will help with vpn too..

I've recovered it by
192.168.0.66 tftp with filename wr941ndv5_tp_recovery.bin (without boot)

by pressing reset button and plug the AC cable.
then wait for 1-2 sec.

then, from the 8th page, upload factory to dd-wrt

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=29075

now i have 841nd v8!!!!

then flash last firmware
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/09-28-2015-r27858/tplink_tl-wr841ndv8/tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin

thanks a lot for all people of this forum!

That's good news ! Just to make it clear for others that might run into this issue, Henry White's modded build 24160 from the 8th page http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=902499#902499 works properly on WR941ND v5.3 (which has the newer CPU revision AR9341 rev 1_3)

LOM's modded build from page 2 seemingly bricks WR941ND v5.3 because it's a mod of an older build (21676) that didn't have support for the newer CPU used in the v5.3

I've just modified the header of the DD-WRT 27506 factory-to-ddwrt build intended for TL-WR841NDv8, so it will flash on the
"new" version of TL-WR941NDv5 / WR940Nv2 (TE7WR941NXV5, CPU Atheros AR9341 @535 MHz) running stock TP-Link firmware.
If the attached build works for you, it can be further updated with any newer-than-27506 webflash build for TL-WR841NDv8.

Disclaimer: I haven't tested the attached build myself, so I'm not responsible in any way if you brick your router.
Please only flash this build if you know how to unbrick it.

Note: You must be logged in to be able to download the attachment.

Thank you very much! I successfully replaced stock 941ND(RU) 5.3 revision.

Just used Kryptex build in my WR941 5.1 and went flawless.
later i've updated to 841v8 28072 build and everything is working, except that now it's showing two antennas only.
anyone knows how to setup for 3 antennas?

What do you mean exactly ? Did you ever see 3 antenna chains before ? Are you sure you have the "new" model of WR941ND v5 and not the "old" one ? Check the FCC ID on the back of the router. "New" model should say TE7WR941NXV5, "old" model should say TE7WR941NXV4.

The "new" WR941NDv5 is only a 2x2:2 router, it has only 2 chains/streams (max 2x150=300 Mbps), so it's a N300 router.
If it would have 3 streams, it would be able to do 3x150=450 Mbps, and would be called a N450 router (like the WR941NDv6 for example). The 3rd antenna on the "new" WR941NDv5 is there only for better range/sensitivity, and NOT for driving an actual 3rd chain.

More about TX/RX antenna chains: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Atheros/ath_wireless_settings#TX_.26_RX_Antenna_Chains

i own a v3.6 and shows 1+2+3 antennas, thought that my 5.1 would show the same.

Of course, WR941ND v3 is a 2x3:3 unit, so it has 3 antenna chains. The "new" WR941ND v5 is only 2x2:2, having 2 antenna chains.
Check the specs for yourself at http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices

Works perfectly for me, 20 days uptime without any issue.

Thanks.
