Hey folks,
I have an ATT Uverse setup and I'm trying to use VLANs to partition off the IPTV traffic from the network traffic. I'm using an R7000 on one end and a R6300v1 on the other. I've flashed the latest BS build 27147 onto each of them and that worked really really badly. I've done some more reading and it sounds like there's some bridging issues in the most recent builds? Does anyone have a recommendation on a build where the VLANs and bridges are pretty stable? Especially for the R6300v1...
The R7000 is acting as a WAP and switch attached to the ATT gateway. Port 1 and Port 2 will be connected to the gateway, with Port 1 on VLAN 1 for internet and Port 2 on VLAN 2 for IPTV traffic. The IPTV is multicast so need to keep it separated form the internet traffic. Port 0 is the WAN port on VLAN 1, used to connect a playstation. Ports 3 and 4 are the trunk ports to other locations in the house, once connected to an R7000 and one to an R6300v1. Both of those devices will provide WiFi and will have ATT set top boxes connected as well. The goal is to have the set top boxes on ports marked for VLAN 2 on the downstream as well.
Right now my problem is that everytime I connect both wires from the ATT gateway, I think some kind of looping occurs and murders the R7000. Not sure if I need to create an additional bridge to separate out VLAN 2. Every time I go to add a bridge through the webif, I lose all connection to the R7000 on any port and have to reset it. Feel like I must be missing something, or maybe there's an older build that will work better.

Don't you have a tagged trunk between the R7000 and ATT Gateway?
To have vlan2 on the two trunks:
vlan2ports=2 3t 4t 5
vlan1ports=0 1 3t 4t 5*
Your issue is probably that the IPTV traffic is flooding the wireless. Multicast is not isolated by vlans. You also have to configure the igmpproxy. Set igmpsnoop in the GUI or a igmppxy.conf file.
Oh my lord, I can't believe I forgot to add ports 3 and 4 to vlan 2. That's what a second set of eyes is for, I guess!
As for the multicast, I was under the impression from some other sources that I could filter the multicast with the vlans. Thank you for the info on the IGMP, looks like a whole new set of fun!
