Hi

I hope I am in the Right forum. I asume that the RT-N12+ have a broadcom chipset, but I am not sure. I have not been able to find anything on this model. There is not any FCC-ID printed on the device.

Could you suggest a dd-wrt build that I could try to install on the device. Or will this not fly?

I am not afraid to brick device. There seem to be a pretty good procedure and utility to reinstall the f
ASUS firmware, if a firmware upgrade goes bad.

Thanks,

This router ( RT-N12+) chipset details:

Chipset: MT7620N
Flash: 8Mbyte
DDR-SDRAM: 32Mbyte

The existing rt-n12 firmwares wont work!

Hope it helps.

I can confirm, rt-n12+ has MediaTek MT7620N Sad As I cand see, no chance of any wrt firmware in the future...

edit: device is compatible with RT-N11P, which has Padavan firmware available. Not sure if it brings major improvements though.
Flashing works from the web interface.

Second edit Smile I did some tests, on wifi there is a major increase in speed. Old firmware got me ~12 mbps, Padavan firmware gets me ~24 mbps. Signal has an increase of about 15%

Padavan firmware latest version
RT-N11P_3.4.3.9-097_base.trx,

seems to be far better than the asus-wrt. Signal strength and range have drastically improved!

dnsmasq works great!

padavan firmware works it's just like ddwrt, my huawei 4g lte wireless broadband only allows upto 10 devices connected.

with padavan firmware I can bridge client ap + ap

it's like getting internet from 4g then allowing my asus rt-n12+ act as a router with unlimitted connection.

than default asus router firmware in repeater mode which repeats my 4g only upto 10 devices and won't allow anymore after that 10 max =P

edit:
I used RT-N11P_3.4.3.9-099_base.trx, also stock asus web settings loads like it has a bug where it won't open with padavan opens intantly, thanks to all in this thread.

Hi, can you describe how did you managed to change the firmware on rt-n12+ to padavan?

I am unable to do it over the web interface because it is not accepting it as a fw update. I am even unable to enter the rescue mode, it never flashes slowly always fast... Sad
It has to do something with the wds/reset button it's one button on this model

I can confirm that Padavan for Asus RT-N11P works fine on RT-N12E B1 also. First update to nano (RT-N11P_3.4.3.9-099_nano.trx), then base (RT-N11P_3.4.3.9-099_base.trx). Configuration settings remains between those two.

Hey guys, i'm trying to install the Padavan firmware on a RT-N12+ but after uploading i get a message that says the update is unsuccessful and the router just reboots. Any help appreciated !

Is this firmware supporting the Repeater Mode of the router ? I would like to try it out nonetheless but i simply can't find a way to flash, tried holding the WPS button and pluggin in, power led flashes but can't get into the GUI and tftp2 doesn't wanna flash either.

Router is RT N12+ B1, tried both through wifi and the cable with static ip.

type in your address bar 192.168.1.1 then administration tab choose firmware upgrade then choose the *.trx file then upload. After flashing go to Admistration tab Settings then reset NVRAM, if you like storage to.

I'm so happy there is padavan in RT-N12+, easier than ddwrt.

Thanks, I've tried that and it just rejects the firmware and throws a non genuine firmware ver. kinda message. When powering on in what seems to be recovery mode(power led flashing), the GUI isn't working via 192.168.1.1.
