Hi,
I made a huge mistake. I flashed the wrong dd wrt version to my Asus RT-AC66U. Instead of flashing the the firmware for RT-AC66U I flashed RT-N66U.
I could recover my router using the asus recover mode and flash the right dd wrt version but now the 5GHz is gone. Instead of the the 5Ghz interface dd wrt show "Wireless Physical Interface wl1 [2.4 GHz TurboQAM]" with the same MAC address as the first interface?!
What I tried:
1. reflash dd wrt RT-AC66U (dd-wrt-26653-Asus_RT-AC66U.trx) + erase NVRAM = still no 5GHz
2. reflash original asus firmware = 5 Ghz available during wizard but the webui seems to be broken. I can select only 2.4Ghz. If I select something with 5Ghz I get only a white/broken page.
3. reflash dd wrt RT-AC66U (dd-wrt-26653-Asus_RT-AC66U.trx) + erase NVRAM = still no 5GHz
Maybe some is wondering why I installed the flash for a RT-N66U? Because google sucks!
I searched for "dd wrt RT-AC66u" to get an installation guide. But the first result is the dd wrt wiki page for RT-N66U! Damn!

A good place to start is read the build thread that you flashed. If you don't find anything that matches your issue look in the prior build thread. Do this for several builds back.
Most build threads show what works and what does not work, to some degree.
Glad you got your issue resolved. _________________ Netgear XR500, R7800

So i installed latest ddwrt build from asus factory default, cleared nvram in both asus and ddwrt with telnet. Then I realized i have no 5ghz, only a 2
4Ghz turboqam. So i shiuld do a gui factory reset to get 5ghz back?
You will need to back grade your dd-wrt to 26339 before using the GUI Factory Reset. Then you can move forward with later builds using only the GUI Factory Reset, not telnet when erasing nvram. _________________ Netgear XR500, R7800
