Hello All,
So its time to update an aging router and I would like to stick to a DD-WRT Compatible router for flexibility.
The house is fairly spread out, so good signal strength is important. At any given time there are a few mobile devices phones/tablets and a smart TV with laptop running.
It seems that Netgear and Asus have some pretty good models, but suggestions would be appreciated.
DD-WRT gurus, where exactly will I see the build number information in the DD-WRT preinstalled?
I haven't worked with that router so you'll have to say if it's been skinned but standard ddwrt shows the build by clicking the Firmware link in the top right corner.
As for the OPs question, I believe there is a sticky dedicated to this type of question but I am partial to the r7000. Prices fluctuate pretty heavily so I would set a slickdeals or camelcamelcamel alert if not in a hurry. I've bought 3 for 160, 150, and 99. _________________ Netgear R7000 (Kong 26285M) : Main Router/PPPoe

WRT54GL (x2)

fwiw i find that the R6300v2 meets my needs, still has the ARM dual core CPU, but you can get it used much cheaper than the going rate for a used R7000... _________________ reenignE esreveR
Resistance is NOT futile... It's Voltage divided by Current!
Assumptions:
1. Everyone on the forum has read the relevant forum section announcements.
2. For Broadcom section we have ALL at least tried to understand the "Peacock" thread,HERE
The ad lied. My Asus RT-N16 came with stock firmware on it. I flashed it with DD-WRT though, by following ALL the instructions on this site! And it worked!
