Hi guys I just flashed DD-WRT I am trying to find out what is causing slow wifi on all my android devices others work perfectly fine..

Example:

HP Chromebook 82 mbps download / 88 mbps upload on 5GHZ wifi.

Android (Galaxy Note4) 5 mbps download / 59 upload.
Android tablet similar.

My hackintosh laptop with 5ghz dongle works fine..

After coming from stock I however didn't do a factory reset because family got home.. so if I did it no wifi for them lol.

Wired of course gives me full speed (android devices did not have this problem on stock)

my maximum speeds are: 84 mbps downoad / 92 mbps upload. (FIOS 75/75)

Peacock Note 7, and THIS.

What Build are you running (BS or Kong & rev #)
Have you considered that client radio hardware capabilities (i.e. 2x2 v. 3x3 etc.) also impact max speed.

Right sorry forgot to add that.

#Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/08/15) kongac

For the second question from you I am not sure what you mean by radio hardware capibilities on stock firmware I would pull up almost full speeds on 5GHz.

What else can I try? I just tested other devices they all work perfeclty but my android devices.

Thank you.

on your android devices, what are the hardware limitations? i.e. for the radio's in your tablet, is that speed as good as it gets?

check out channel width section here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Atheros/ath_wireless_settings

After finding out what types of radio hardware you have in your clients if you still have an issue...

if your android devices are rooted/romed perhaps check XDA for known bugs or your rom developer's forum thread.

i.e. I have the galaxy note 2 so can't speak to your GN4... The Galaxy Note II is equipped with Broadcom BCM4334 chipset for the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual-band with maximum rate up to 150 Mbit/s (so wifi tether is bi directional, so for those connections I only expect half that)

based on this teardown: http://www.techinsights.com/teardown.com/samsung-note-4-galaxy-alpha/
I am unfamiliar with "Unknown E825B1 WiFi / Bluetooth / ANT+ Module" in your GN4

and we have no idea what your tablet hardware is yet Smile

and since i'm not running kong's personal test builds i can't speak to that. perhaps check the new ARM driver thread to see if other users are having similar issues.

Hopefully someone else has better answers for you once all the details are available.

Tablet is LG G Pad 8.3 and the Note4 has AC chip I believie. Don't know the exact info.

on the initial firmware also when I did only 1 test on 2.4ghz I pulled up about 70 mbps so I thought ok.. all is good and upgraded to newest FW.

Router is set to AC/N mode on 5GHZ.

That is why I am running out of ideas.. it worked fine however on the "initial firmawre" from 2014 but I only did 1 test though.

Would you happen to know like a most stable firmware for this router?

I added a bit up there (late edit) on the WiFi chipset in your phone. your tablet might be n only in the five gigahertz band. They both should be faster though.

What are your wireless basic and security settings? Wpa personal 2 with AES?

Folks are having success on the BS Main SVN latest, 26138.

It is hard to pinpoint Kong's personal test builds these days. No history maintained on web repo. And build # not in file name. ...but all his important work is committed to main.

I have it set for AES on both N 2.4 GHz and 5GHZ.

I can't seem to find the 26138 can you link me to it? I could only find the latest ones... thanks once again for your time! Smile

EDIT: would it be safe to flash this over kang firmware?

No worries... I am having fun procrastinating Smile

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015

Then build sub folders like this...

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/02-04-2015-r26138/netgear-r7000/

Edit:
Not sure about the dirty flash. Probably not because Kong said his latest needs a reset... Pick reset from drop down on the upgrade gui

So to not brick it do it this way:

#1 download newest betas? or try any other I wish
#2 first factory reset
#3 upload newer/older beta firmware
#4 setup everything again.

that sounds right to you?

Use .bin file from link.

Just opt for reset from drop down on the upgrade page.

Keep an eye on "new builds" thread for new releases that play nice on your device...

Like this http://dd-wrt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=278610

You probably don't want to be the first to test a new build. Let someone with serial/JTAG recovery sorted be the 1st to try a new build.

Lucky you I have no idea why only android devices are having issues.

I will do first a factory reset before switching firmware. If issue still persists I will try the beta .bin and do factory reset again upon upgrading.

pat,
happy you have a working solution now.
Going forward may I suggest you resize your screen caps please?
They are way too large for the majority of viewers monitor resolution.
