Hi,
I am new to this community, but I have scoured the wiki page and the peacock announcement and this forum and cannot seem to figure it out. Please have merci on me.
I have a linksys e4200 router with he stock firmware 2.1.41.162351. I have tried the following procedure several times with both of these builds:
add-wrt.v24-18777.NEWD-2_k2.6_mini-e4200.bin
kingkong-nv60k-broadcom.bin
I disconnected all cables and wireless clients.
Did a 30/30/30 on the router.
Set my PC (running Windows 7) to the static IP-address 192.168.1.8 and connected a Lan cable between it and the router.
I connected to it through internet explorer at 192.168.1.1 and through the software chose the build (first add-wrt.v24-18777.NEWD-2_k2.6_mini-e4200.bi, then kingkong-nv60k-broadcom.bin).
I waited for the flashing process to complete, then waited for another 5 minutes.
At this point the light on the top was "breathing".
I did another 30/30/30, then waited another 3 minutes.
When I try to access the router through explorer, it won't respond. I then try pinging and it only responds "destination host unreadable", or "general failure"
Finally, I to get any other response, I need to continuously ping it and unplug it (wait 30 seconds) and plug it back in. Eventually I get the response ttl=64 at which point I can access it through explorer, but it has the stock firmware still on it.
What am I doing wrong? I have seen it mentioned that 30/30/30 doesn't work for newer routers, but not what to do instead. I have also seen people mention this problem (firmware won't stick) but they do not say what they did to eventually make it work.
You don't flash them both at the same time, which you make it sound like you are doing.
Use the trailed build (with the e4200) in the name first.
After it's done, you log into the dd-wrt GUI and flash the other one. _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.
Sorry I wasn't clear. I am trying to say, I did the procedure 3 times with the first firmware unsuccessfully, and then tried it with the kingkong firmware with the same result.
Ricktendo, you are right, I just noticed it is a V2. Is that for sure? Is there no build for e4200 V2?
