I think you should revert back to original firmware then flash the new build. At least that's what I usually do in similar cases. Or try downloading the ddwrt firmware again 'cause it could be downloaded with some errors...

There is a manual upgrade you have to do sometimes., I just had to do it on my ea6900 to get to kongs latest. I am busy right now but will post the how to later today : ) its not hard from the command line

I suddenly got time LOL

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation/it#Method_3:_Flashing_with_Command_Line

is a url linking to some instructions there is a change though the guide says

write dd-wrt.v2x_generic.bin linux

but it should be

mtd write dd-wrt.v2x_generic.bin linux

so what you would do to run the latest Kong firmware such as me is on my ea6900

cd /tmp
wget http://desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-Arm/24865M/dd-wrt.v24-K3_AC_ARM_STD.bin

mtd write dd-wrt.v24-K3_AC_ARM_STD.bin

and then reboot. Personally I always issue

erase nvram
reboot

myself I feel this gives me the greatest chance of success, down side is setting everything up again but I have all the scripts and files saved to run so it no real issue for me.

let me know if you have any other questions.

How do you upgrade? (please describe your connections wired/wireless, ip of router & computer, everything you do).
What error appears?

DO NOT 30-30-30 or erase nvram newer routers! It can brick them.

EA6700: Build 27745 (nvram below 32K, ipv6 - HE 6in4)
E4200: Build 26587
WRT54GL: Retired - waiting in the closet for an emergency.
