No, It's not what I'm looking for :(

I don't want a transparent proxy, I just want to set up a proxy that I could use from the VPN.

My binary build of srelay:

I use it for SOCKS support on my router when I have a program that just refuses to work properly behind nat.

I have alot of other fun stuff in that dir too, including latest radvd, ez-ipupdate, the tspc2 client.

Sorry for pushing this thread back up, but I was wondering...

I heard that the main difference between an HTTP proxy vs a SOCKS proxy is that the DNS requests are done through the SSH tunnel when using the HTTP proxy but are done locally on the network when using SOCKS.

Can anyone confirm this, please?

Hi dpg, I tried to follow you instructions in the sited post:

You don't need tinyproxy or any other software to proxy http (or many other protocols, for that matter). Just configure the putty ssh session from the remote site to your router to do dynamic forwarding:

connection->ssh->tunnels, put 1080 in "source port", select "dynamic" radio button and click "add"

Then configure firefox to use a socks proxy at port 1080.
[browser configuration -> only fill out SOCKS-host, all others must be empty]

but it is not working for me. Which version of SOCKS should I choose in FireFox (4 or 5)? Will this also work for IE or do I need to add SOCKS support to Windows somehow?
