Hi,
My connection was recently upgraded and I now have 160/10 Mbps available.
However with DD-WRT it seems to be impossible to reach anything near this. I'm currently stuck at around 100Mbps.
Are there any tricks or firmware that I can use to speed this thing up?
I've tried original firmware and this gets me 160Mbps easy, but I need WOL (passtrough or webinterface) and this is not possible in original firmware of E3000.
I've messed around with a couple of firmware's but nothing helped much. With Tomato I got around 130 Mbps, but I would like to squeeze the last speed out of the connection. I also did not try K3.0 builds because it does seem difficult to flash (and possibly brick the router).

You might try "Kong's" firmware of the 22200 kind. It is still based on the 2.6 kernel, and is the last one (that I know of) that is optimized for speed.
As for WOL, I do not know if DD-WRT supports it. (It should, but I am not certain.) _________________ E3000 22200M KongVPN K26

Well, with DD-WRT my Asus RT-N16 reached no faster than 150 Mbps, with Tomato by Shibby no faster than 160 Mbps and with Asus Merlin is easily reaches 180 Mbps (that's my nominal bandwidth, so I cannot test higher speeds). All this without overclocking. From my experience I assume that an E3000 or E4200 will behave pretty much the same, except there is no Merlin firmware for it. Kong recommends an R7000, since it is future-proof.

the cpu is too slow, stock fws in many routers use some "hacks"/hw nat if chip is present, to get high wan<->lan but ddwrt refuses to support such for technical reasons..my e3000(converted wrt610n v2) did 533mhz fine & the chip itself hardly got hot like most say e3000 do (unless there IS something different between native e3000 & wrt610n v2), according to broadcom the cpu is actually rated at 533mhz in the first place..if you dont want to oc it there isnt much to do besides replace it for a newer unit. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)
