ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2014/04-18-2014-r23919/buffalo_whr_300hp2/

Your post title says whr-300hp2d. Your GUI says whr-300hp2. I don't know if it makes a difference. The above lnk is for the whr-300hp2.

yeah when i called tech support they said they may have flashed over it with older firmware they provide on there site that isn't dd-wrt.

I'm gonna try this out if not just return it. Thanks i couldn't find the file tree part of the site with all the firmware.

ill let you know if this is a fix or if it bricks it!

thanks malachi

I was running Buffalo's latest version of DD-WRT (v24sp2 Build 22750b). A few times a day the wifi would drop out for 30 seconds, so I wanted to switch to the community version of DD-WRT.

I downloaded BrainSlayer's version (V24-preSP2_12-22-2014_r25697, buffalo-whr-300hp2, US) and upgraded via the web interface.

The router now seems to be caught in an endless reboot cycle, rebooting every 30 seconds or so. I tried a 30/30/30 reset. I also tried tftp-ing a copy of Buffalo's version of DD-WRT again. No change.

Not sure what happened - perhaps it was a version mismatch (the image was for the HP2 and I had the HP2D). Perhaps I rebooted it too soon after the upgrade? (Although that shouldn't affect it.)

Well that Christmas present lasted 21 days. I'm not sure how I'll tell my brother who gave it to me.

Anything else I should do before I send it to the scrap heap and buy a different one?

Try serial recovery.
