It's probably too big.

Interesting looks like the size difference between 21676 big and 23720 big is 68K

Router Model Netgear WNR3500 v2/U/L v1
Firmware Version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/19/13) vpnkong - build 22200M
Kernel Version Linux 2.6.24.111 #608 Mon Aug 19 23:27:32 CEST 2013 mips

GUI upgrade to dd-wrt.v24-23720_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega.bin FAILED.

The GUI showed a succesful upgrade but after the reboot nothing was changed so the firmware remained.

Do I have to install dd-wrt.v24-23720_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-WNR3500L.chk first when coming from the KONG build?

Thanks

I have been running 3.x on my WNDR4000 for quite some time with success. Might be time to step to the 3.x loads. I know it doesn't help with this upgrade issue, but it does side step it. Very Happy

Hi Red.. Not to get this thread off topic but I have run builds past 19XXX on my N16 with no wireless issues. Currently, my N16 is not in service.

Depends on the mode...I run my unit in Repeater Mode...that wasn't "fixed" until 23xxx.

40MHz wifi on E2000 has horrible stability, 20MHz works great though.

R23720

TP-Link TL-WR1043ND (V1)
D-Link DIR-632a

Upgraded from 23598. No issues and no errors. Both units seem very stable. (Stable on 23598 also)

Hardware: Linksys WRT54G v8.2
Flash: dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic.bin

Methode: TFTP.
Flash: Ok, Without troubles.
Reset settings: Yes 30/30/30.
Errors:
- Apply changes in router and it take several minutes to restart (sometimes 2-3 minutes).
- UPNP doesn't work properly, enable UPNP and apply the changes, router restarts automatically as should, but then UPNP still don't work, so you need to unplug power and connect again, and then works, but not always.
- When you are exploring the router admin panel, sometimes it stop responding (but router's lights are ok) and is impossible to use internet or enter in router admin panel, you have to unplug power and connect it again to recover the router.
- If you connect a second computer to the router, after few minutes (2-3 minutes) the internet and router admin panel stop working, but lan communication between PCs works normally.
- Reset button in the router doesn't work properly, this button should reset router (fast reset) with a single push, but don't work.
- UPNP Forwards list doesn't show anything.

Upgraded Linksys E3000 from Fractal K2.6 23040 to BS/Kong K3.X Mega 23720

Working fine, both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios working

Signal seems fine on both channels so far

Nice and fast speedtest.net results as well

-----------------------------

Edit: Had to downgrade my Linksys E3000 back to Fractal's 23040 build

The wireless started acting weird for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz

I've found on the ASUS RT-N16 that if you disable the SSID broadcast it will start the wireless interface, then you can re-enable it and it will work fine. A pain to hook up a cable every time you need to reboot but it works.
